Charizard

Charizard, The Flame Pokémon. It spits fire that is hot enough to melt boulders. It is known to have caused forest fires unintentionally. When expelling a blast of super hot fire, It's Tail Flame burns more intensely. It Charizard gets angry, the flame on it's tail flares into a Whiteish Blue Colour. It can melt almost anything, it's breath inflicts terrible pain onto it's enemies. It uses it's wings to fly high. It's fire's temperature increases as it becomes more experienced. It flies around the sky in search of powerful opponents. It never turns it's firey breath on an opponent that is weaker than itself.

Battle Moveset

A Good Moveset for Charizard would have to be this:

Attacks:

Dragon Claw
Flamethrower
Sunny Day
Earthquake

Items Attached:

Petaya Berry

Preferred Nature:

Timid

Strategy Using Charizard

Just like most Fire type Pokemon, Charizard wasn't given the biggest or best movepool to work with. Obviously, Charizard's best stats are Special attack and speed. Its defenses however, are bordering on average.
Charizard's main weakness is Rock, with a 4x weakness to it and with its defense stat being at a base of 78, moves like Rock slide should do some serious damage (depending on the Pokemon of course)
Since most fire Pokemon should be considered to have Sunny day as its an ever so useful move, it has been included here. This will also cover one of Charizard's weaknesses, Water, which will reduce all water attacks by 50%, while raising all fire type moves by 50%.
Dragon claw is one of the few special type moves it learns, so include it if you must, it should provide some use against other Pokemon types. Since Charizard doesn't really learn any other special moves apart from fire, a psychic type move (rest) and Bite.
Although, if you want to try something different, and maybe want to take a risk with your moveset, go with this: Charizard@Chesto Berry: Belly Drum, Rest, Physical move 1, Physical move 2 (basically, fill the last two moves with such moves like Earthquake/Brick break/Aerial ace)
Sure, it could work with a moveset like: Dragon dance, Earthquake, Brick break, Overheat, as a mixed sweeper. But then again, the choice is down to you and if you really want to experiment with this Pokemon's capabilities, try all three to see which one's work for you.
The EV's on this moveset should solely be focused upon the special attack and speed, both which are needed for a special sweeper. The hold item is obviously the Petaya berry, though the Salac berry could work just as well.
Charizard, a good Pokemon but with limitations. Still, I intend to use Charizard, being the first Pokemon I ever used. Remember, its stats are focused on speed and special attack, use Charizard accordingly.

EV Corner:

Max out the EVs in Special Attack & Speed for Charizard with any remaining in Special Defense

Strategy Against Charizard

Charizard' Defenses are both above average. The difference is so Miniscual its pointless doing volleys other than water, Electric or Rock volleys to play at it's weaknesses.

Contest Moveset

A good Contest Moveset for Charizard would have to be this for the Cool Contest best with Lonely, Adament, Naughty or Brave Nature:

Attacks:

Rock Slide
Sunny Day
Flamethrower
Outrage

Items Attached:

Red Scarf

Strategy Using Charizard

If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Rock slide, 2nd - Sunny day, 3rd - Flamethrower, 4th - Rock slide, 5th - Outrage

Evolve Charmeleon

Animé Appearences

Charizard has had quite few Animé Appearences although most are under the control of Ash. First it was a Robot in the Giant Pokémon Island Amusement Park. Most Appearences after this is of Ash's Charizard when it evolved from Charmeleon in order to battle Aerodactyl. It disobeyed Ash from then on. James used one in his Pokémon League Entrance Battle Test, which he then tried steal. Ash's one also ended up getting Cloned by Mewtwo and lived with all the Pokémon Clones later in Johto. Ash's faced a tough battle and got frozen. Ash thawed it out and Charizard learnt to respect Ash. There was a valley full of them too where the strongest Charizard lived. Ash left his here to train. Team Rocket used one in the Battle Park in a battle against Ash's Totodile in an elaborate plan to get Pikachu. Ash's returned twice, first for the Blackthorn Gym where it also helped stop a rampage of a Dragonite and the Silver Conference in Ash's battles against Gary and Harrison. One was also a participant in a contest .
