Omastar

Omastar, The Spiral Pokémon. It uses its tentacles to capture its prey. It is believed to have become extinct because its shell grew too large, making its movements slow and ponderous. Its tentacles are highly developed as if they are hands and feet. As soon as it ensnares prey, it bites. Despite having strong fangs and tentacles, it went extinct when its heavy shell made it unable to catch prey.

Battle Moveset

A Good Moveset for Omastar would have to be this:

Attacks:

Surf
Rain Dance
Ice Beam
Hidden Power [Grass / Electric] / Substitute / Toxic

Items Attached:

Leftovers OR
Lum Berry

Preferred Nature:

Modest

Strategy Using Omastar

Sweeping Omastar, pretty standard stuff. After Rain Dance Omastar is free to sweep, barring special walls getting in the way. The main UU walls that'll block the path are Quagsire and Mantine as well as a large majority of pure Water types, who not only resist Surf and Ice Beam but can also fire back Surfs for neutral damage. Other options for the Hidden Power slot are Substitute (which can block Thunder Wave/Stun Spore which would ruin the strategy) and Toxic (which can weaken Special walls quickly).

EV Corner:

EVs: 48 Def / 208 Spd / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)

198 Speed with Swift Swim outruns all un-boosted Pokémon except for Electrode, Ninjask and Deoxys. Max special attack, leftover EVs are best spent in Defence since that's where Omastar's main resistances are.

Other Optional Sets

Omastar @ Leftovers
Trait: Shell Armor / Swift Swim
EVs: 220 HP / 132 Def / 156 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Spikes / Haze
- Ice Beam
- Toxic / Rest

Tanking Omastar. With resistances to Normal, Flying and Poison it makes for a passable physical wall to Choice Banders and is capable of taking an attack from one of it's physical weaknesses. Since Omastar can't have Spikes and Haze at the same time it's one or the other, Spikes is probably best chosen since it's one of the few viable Spikers. If you have a Beller / Aromatherapist on the team Rest is viable, otherwise use Toxic. Other Optional Moves

Hydro Pump is usable over Surf since the boost with Rain Dance is significant. Aside from that there's nothing much available that hasn't already been mentioned.

Strategy Against Omastar

Most Omastar's use the Rain Dance set which is easily countered by most Water types with a reasonable enough special defence to take a Hidden Power. Omastar's dual-typing makes Water attacks do neutral damage so other water's can benefit from it's Rain Dance. Special mention goes to Kingdra who not only can counter Omastar but also benefits from it's Rain Dance. If Hidden Power [Electric] is absent Mantine counters it with ease and if Hidden Power [Grass] is absent Quagsire counters it easily. Grass types with decent special defence to take Ice Beam can OHKO it with STABed Grass moves. In OU the standard special walls counter it easily as well as Gyarados if it hasn't got Hidden Power [Electric].

Contest Moveset

A good Contest Moveset for Omastar would have to be this for the Beauty Contest best with Modest, Mild, Rash or Quiet Nature:

Attacks:

Rain Dance
Surf
Water Pulse
Hyper beam

Items Attached:

Blue Scarf

Strategy Using Omastar

If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Rain dance, 2nd - Surf, 3rd - Rain dance, 4th - Water pulse, 5th - Ice beam
