Swalot, The Poison Bag Pokémon. When it spots prey, it spurts out a hideously toxic fluid from its pores and sprays the target. Once the prey has weakened, it gulps it down whole with its cavernous mouth. It has no teeth, so what it eats, it swallows whole, no matter what. Its cavernous mouth yawns widely. An automobile tire could easily fit inside it's mouth. Its powerful stomach acid is capable of digesting almost anything. The one thing in the whole world a Swalot can't digest is its own stomach. It can swallow a tire whole in one gulp. It secretes a horribly toxic fluid from the pores on its body.
A Good Moveset for Swalot would have to be this:
Impish Or Careful
Strategy Using Swalot
The main focus of this set is the use of Counter, taking advantage of Swalot's large HP stat. The choice between Explosion and Pain Split comes down to staying power or damage. If you were to use Swalot in OU there would be plenty of large HP Pokémon to take advantage of but in NU, where it is more likely to be used, the number of Pokémon with huge HP stats decreases and Explosion will usually prove to be the most viable route. Shadow Ball prevents the set from being entirely shut down by Ghost Pokémon while Encore and Yawn offer options to remove unwanted Pokémon from play.
The choice of EVs depend on what you want your Swalot to do. On one hand you may want some more special defence since you won't be killing special sweepers with Counter while on the other hand you may want more defence for taking more physical attacks and a stronger Earthquakes. Either route is viable however HP must be maxed.
EVs: 252 HP / 6 Def / 252 SDef
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 6 SDef
Giving Swalot some attack or some speed is also viable, as is balancing the defences.
Other Optional Sets
Swalot @ Choice Band
Choice Band set up, short of super-effective hit's the only damage you'll really be doing is with Explosion. The set still has some viability though and may be an attractive option for a NU Choice Band team.
Swalot (M) @ Choice Band
Swalot's Special attack is equal to it's Physical attack and it has a large enough special move pool to make it work. It's still not likely to make a huge dent in a team but it has surprise factor to it. Once again, Explode once you cannot do no more.
Other Optional Moves
Snatch, Acid Armor, Amnesia, Body Slam, Solarbeam, Substitute. Snatch is mostly a novelty and very situational to make work but it can still be successful. Acid Armor and Amnesia tend not to be effective due to critical hits but can work for a tank Swalot. Body Slam can cause paralysis. Solarbeam could work on a Sunny Day team. Substitute works with Swalot's HP to create 101 Subs.
Strategy Against Swalot
Provided you can predict Swalot's counters Steel and Rock types will destroy it while Ghost type do the same when Shadow Ball is absent. With offensive sets not being weak to a super effective attack should be enough to wall it.
A good Contest Moveset for Swalot would have to be this for the Tough Contest best with Impish, Lax, Relaxed or Bold Nature:
Strategy Using Swalot
If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Acid Armor, 2nd - Rock smash, 3rd - Acid Armor/Body Slam, 4th - Rock smash, 5th - explosion
