Mr. Mime, The Barrier Pokémon. Its pantomime skills are wonderful. You may become enraptured while watching it, but next thing you know, Mr. Mime has made a real wall. It creates invisible walls with its pantomiming. If you don’t act impressed, it will attack you with a double slap! Always practicing its pantomime act. It makes enemies believe something exists that really doesn’t.
Overview
The Mime Pokémon and a regional for Europe in Pokémon Go, Mr Mime has often been a rare Pokémon ever since its release game as well, having to be obtained by trading an Abra after going through Diglett Cave. However in the history of Singles, Mr Mime hasn't lived up to its rarity having only 100 Special and 90 Speed, then gaining 20 Special Defense with the Special split. However, Mr Mimes true struggle comes in its other stats, with 40 Health and 65 Defense meaning it can't even uses its good 120 Special Defense and, as of Gen 6, Fairy typing. This makes it hard for Mr Mime to find home on teams with more reliable or utility based Psychic types such as Xatu and Meowstic in its home in the lower tier formats. Overall Mr Mime is a weird Pokémon in competitive and out of it, why it exists not even Game Freak knows.
Positives
Decent Offensive stats - 100 Special Attack and 90 Speed are not bad for lower tier formats and can make it a decent threat as well as making it good at applying pressure to teams. Mr Mime's Fairy typing also helps with this as Fairy is an excellent typing for offensive Pokémon, and helps to set it apart in lower tier formats.
Negatives
Low Bulk - Mr Mime has really bad bulk despite having decent Special Defense, that 40 base HP is awful. This means that Mr Mime has minimal options and times it can pivot into Pokémon to look for ways in or look to boost or support.
Abilities
Filter - Receives ľ damage from super effective moves - Only shared with Mega Aggron, this is fantastic on a tank Pokémon. However on something like Mr Mime, this ability suffers not only from the lack of recovery, but also its awful bulk. With 40 base HP even reducing damage doesn't help much, especially with its bad Defense as well.
Soundproof - Prevents sound based moves - This was a key ability for Mr Mime in Baton Pass chains as it would prevent Roar, as well as stop moves such as Bug Buzz and Hyper Voice from damaging Pokémon through the Substitute. However with Baton Pass being limited in some formats this ability loses out on some of its appeal, though it's otherwise a solid choice.
Technician - Raises power of moves with a base power of 60 or less by 1.5x - While Pokémon such as Breloom and Scizor have shown how good this ability is, Mr Mime isn't great at abusing it and makes it more subpar to the other abilities since it lacks effective options to utilize it.

Timid Nature
Nasty Plot is one of the ways Mr Mime can set itself apart from the faster Jynx and bulkier Mesprit, allowing it to threaten balanced and stall teams, but having a hard time with hyper offensive teams. Psyshock and Dazzling Gleam are good STAB moves, Psyshock hitting Pokémon on their physical defense while Dazzling Gleam is a nice special STAB. Unfortunately, Mr Mime lacks Moonblast so this is the best option. Focus Blast is a nice final option for Pokémon such as Kangaskhan.
Mr Mime's defensive stats are hopeless so there's no reason to go for anything other than maximum offensive investment with a Timid nature. Fightinium Z secures the hit of Focus Blast and helps muscle through Steels such as Silvally and Steelix while Life Orb helps buff all Mr Mimes moves.
Other Options
Healing Wish - Almost always an option when it's capable of being learned, this allows Mr Mime to fully heal a teammate if its low health, not going to be useful, or going to faint anyway, and gives something such as Passimian or Charizard a full restore in the process.
Partners
Scyther - With U-turn, Scyther can fish for a free switch in for Mr Mime on something slower or that tries to pivot into Scyther, such as Silvally, that Mr Mime can then blast with All Out Pummeling. Mr Mime can pressure other Steels that are a pain for Scyther as well while Scyther destroys Dark threats and is an excellent target for Healing Wish.
Lycanroc Dusk - Swords Dance, Tough Claws, and Accelerock makes Lycanroc Dusk a powerhouse in lower tier teams Mr Mime can find itself home on. While both share a Steel weakness, their combined offensive coverage and power can help muscle through them, and Lycanroc can also help with threatening the daylights out of Scyther and Dodrio.
Countering Mr. Mime
Priority - Low Defense and HP means that priority moves can easily break through Mr Mime. Lycanroc is strong option with option with Accelerock while Dusk form has access to Sucker Punch and Tough Claws with higher Speed to boot. Kangaskhan is similar with access to Sucker Punch to blast Mr Mime away. Spiritomb and Golurk are also good with Shadow Sneak and solid defensive bulk with good offensive stats, though the former needs to watch out for Fairy STAB. Finally, Absol has the best Sucker Punch in the tier and is a terrifying Pokémon to give an opportunity to come in, though it also needs to watch out for the Fairy-type moves.
Revenge Killers/Faster Pokémon - Anything faster than Mr Mime threatens it hard due to its low health, and its base 90 Speed isn't exactly hard to outpace either. Passimian is a good option as with a Choice Scarf and high power it can muscle through Mr Mime pretty easily, though it can't safely switch in due to being weak to both of its STAB moves. Dodrio can't get in safely due to its low bulk either but can break through quite easily with its high power and Choice Band and with access to Quick Attack. Lastly, Froslass can switch into a Focus Blast and threaten with Shadow Ball or even create pressure with Spikes.
