The 2024 Dragon King tournament was the first for three years and featured the addition of PokĂ©mon UNITE into the mix. To qualify, you needed to participate in some online competitions for VGC, the Champions League in TCG and a special competition for PokĂ©mon UNITE

The VGC portion also utilised the new software, Pokémon Battle Scope which uses AI to determine the most likely plays for the players in the current match.

VGC Rule Set:

Usable Games Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Battle Type: Single Battle
Pokémon Restrictions: Available National Pokédex, No Restricted or Mythical Pokémon
Pokémon Limits: Team of 3 to 6 Pokémon from Level 1 to Level 100. All Pokémon then set to Level 50. A PokĂ©mon with the Dragon Tera Type has to be brought into battle
Battle Time: 20 Minutes
Your Time: 7 Minutes
Team Preview: 90 Seconds
Turn Time: 45 Seconds

TCG Rule Set:

Format: Standard
Eligibility: Players register 3 decks with at least 15 cards different from the others. At the start of the match, the opponent picks a deck for the player to be unable to use. The player then picks the deck

No EX License
No Boost Emblems
All Items max graded
At least one of the following Pokémon must be brought on the team: Dragonite, Garchomp, Goodra, Duraludon or Dragapult
