Biography

Nurse Joy is the name of the people in a massive family of Pokémon Nurses spread across the world. Since there are so many of them and they are all identical, many people believe that they are the same person at first, until they are corrected. Most Joys are all kind and giving people, always wanting to help sick and injured Pokémon. However there are a few with several differences, one of which is incredibly athletic, another despises Water Pokémon. However still they are pretty much identical.

Nurse Joy has a counterpart within Unova that is completely different

Chansey

Chansey are the Pokémon almost constantly seen at the Pokémon Centers with Nurse Joy. Since they don't battle and know a lot of healing 'attacks', they are very handy to have around and are always eager to help out Nurse Joy's and help heal other Pokémon at a moment's notice.

Bulbasaur

On Mandarin Island, a Bulbasaur was living in the sewers, attacking people and stealing food. This Bulbasaur was originally the mayor of Mandarin Island's, however since he abandoned it and it lived in the Sewers, Nurse Joy decided it would be best to look after it.

Blissey

Blissey is a Pokémon that only a few Pokémon Centers have. Having evolved from Chansey, the Blissey still do the same tasks as the Chansey including Heal the Pokémon and just generally help our Nurse Joy. One Blissey owned by Joy once worked with Jessie in the Pokémon Nurse School.

Sunflora

In Sunny Town, Nurse Joy had recently obtained a Sunflora through a trade. This Sunflora was a friend of another Sunflora that had got depressed due to not seeing it. However Joy happily allows the Sunflora to play with eachother.

Jynx

The Nurse Joy in the Ice Cave uses a Jynx instead of a Chansey as her general Nurse Pokémon. Jynx has been known to look after Pokémon and Humans and stay by them until they are better. However when angered, Jynx is formiddable in battle.

Piloswine

Also in the Ice Cave, Joy had a Piloswine. Using a harness, Joy used Piloswine in order for speedy travel throughout the cave. This does seem to be it's only use and was not seen in battle.

Swinub

Also in the Ice Cave, Joy has befriended and owns several Swinub. Not used in battle or for chores around the Pokémon Center, Joy sitll takes care of them and leaves out dishes of food for them.

Combusken

One of the Starter Pokémon that Joy was entrusted in Slateport, Combusken ran off when it was a Torchic and evolved. However since it evolved and she couldn't keep it to give to new trainers, Joy decided that Combusken was a good Pokémon to use to defend the Pokémon Center and kept it.

Oddish

The group of Oddish, previously led by Shiftry, were given to a Joy between Slateport & Mauville to take care of after Joy looked after an injured Nuzleaf. It is unknown how many Joy has.

The group of Seedot, previously led by Shiftry, were given to a Joy between Slateport & Mauville to take care of after Joy looked after an injured Nuzleaf. It is unknown how many Joy has.

The group of Nuzleaf, previously led by Shiftry, were given to a Joy between Slateport & Mauville to take care of after Joy looked after an injured Nuzleaf. It is unknown how many Joy has.

Meganium

The Meganium that Joy uses by Fuschia City, is used by Nurse Joy in order to heal Pokémon with it's Aromatherapy & Sweet Scent attacks. However, Ash's Grovyle quickly fell in love with it, only to be rejected in favour of a Wild Tropius.

Treecko

Treecko is the Grass Type starter in Hoenn. Nurse Joy was given a batch of the starters in order to give to trainers starting in Slateport City. However since the trainer in the episode in question couldn't pick, but eventually chose Mudkip while her father took Treecko. This Treecko is female and imitates Ash's Male Treecko by putting a flower in its mouth.

Torchic

Torchic is the Fire Type starter in Hoenn. Nurse Joy was given a batch of the starters in order to give to trainers starting in Slateport City. However unlike the other starters, this Torchic was a bit more violent and experienced. It ended up running off and evolved into Combusken.
