Lunatone, The Meteorite Pokémon. It was discovered at a location where a Meteorite fell. As a result people think it came from outer space. Nobody has proven this yet. It becomes active around the time of a full moon. Instead of walking it floats in mid-air. Its red eyes cause those who see it become transfixed with fear. It's health ebbs and flows in a Lunar Cycle. It brims with power when exposed to Full Moons.

Strategy Using Lunatone
This is certainly one cool Pokemon, it learns Calm mind, it also has alright special stats, not too great, but still, its the strongest point of this pokemon.
However, its type combo has left it open to some more weaknesses, such as grass and water type moves, while keeping its Ghost and dark type weakness. With poor defense, Ghost moves would probably deal the most damage.
Anyways, use Calm mind to pump up its special stats. Psychic is obviously used as a STAB move and plus its a special attack, and the effects of calm mind should make it pretty powerful.
Ice beam is the next strongest special attack it learns, which should take care of grass Pokemon, which could faint this Pokemon relatively easy. HP Electric to cover its water weakness and any dark Pokemon, which are usually dual types, like Sharpedo, Ice beam covers some of the other dark dual types, like Shiftry and Cacturne.
For its nature, give Lunatone Timid/Modest nature, one boosts special attack, one boosts speed, depending what you think you'll need the most, the same basically applies for hold item.
There's probably some other possibilities for this moveset, but since I'm in such a rush, I had to go with the already planned moveset and nothing else came to mind while writing this.
It may not have the best stats available, but its not like those over powered and over used Pokemon that often crop up in teams, so use it if you don't want a team full of powerhouses.

Strategy Against Lunatone
Lunatone's Defenses are both about average, but it's Physical is suprisingly lower so a Physical Volley should work aswell as Dark, Water & Grass Attacks.

A good Contest Moveset for Lunatone would have to be this for the Smart Contest best with Calm, Gentle, Careful, Sassy Nature:
