Introduced in 2014, amiibo are a special line of NFC products released by Nintendo in order to provide additional content to various games. Most of these amiibo will work across multiple titles on the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS and there are multiple series of amiibo to purchase. To activate the amiibo, you need to scan them in using the Wii U GamePad, New Nintendo 3DS or the special amiibo reader for Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS when playing compatible titles.
