Carbink, The Jewel Pokémon. Born from the high temperatures and pressures deep underground, it defends itself by firing beams from the jewel part of its body. Although this Pokémon is not especially rare, its glittering, jewel-draped body draws attention from people. Some say that deep beneath the surface of the world, a pack of Carbink live with their queen in a kingdom of jewels. To keep the jewels on their bodies free of tarnish, packs of Carbink use their soft manes to polish one another’s jewels.
Overview
Carbink is a pokemon that suffers hard from generation changes. While new if Carbink was released in DPP it would have been an amazing lead having access to a plethora of powerful moves such as Explosion, Magic Coat, and Explosion. While team preview has removed the designated lead role, Carbink is an amazing Trick Room setter in PU.
Positives
Excellent Lead - Carbink is a pokemon that fuctions amazingly well as a lead. With a Mental Herb Trick Room is guarrentted and after that theres room to play around the opponent. However Leads are a bit dead due to team preview limiting how useful Carbink can truly be.
Negatives
Predictable - With its low offensive stats Carbink is very predictable as it will always have a defensive set. This means that its can be easily outed with moves such as Taunt and Encore without having to worry about much, or become set up fodder.
Abilities
Clear Body - Negates status dropping effects - While this ability is great, its not on Carbink due to its support based style.
Sturdy - Prevents OHKO moves - This is the best of Carbinks best ability as it prevents Carbink from being KOed before doing anything, namely set up Trick Room.

Trick Room is the core move of the set capitalizing on a lot of what Carbink does well. Magic Guard is a nice option for after Trick Room as it blocks entry hazards and Taunt/Encore two of the best moves to answer Carbink. Stealth Rocks is nice as well to just apply some passive pressure and help secure easier KOes for your Trick Room sweepers. Finally Explosions there to create an opening to get something in for free as well as possible take something out with it.
Other Options and Partners
Pivot - Carbink can run a pivot set with some decent success but the Trick Room set overall plays better.
Aggron - With terrible base Speed and high Attack as well as access to Head Smash and Rock Head, Aggron is a terrifying sweeper with Trick Room support.
Alolan Exeggutor- With its resistance to some of the types Carbinks is weak to while enjoying Trick Room itself, Alolan Exeggutor is a solid partner to apply pressure off the support Carbink brings.
Checks & Counters
Priority - While Sturdy allows Carbink to live a OHKO once, Priority moves really stop Carbink, especially since it can go past Trick Room and prevent Carbink form doing much after.
Liepard - With access to Prankster to get around Trick Room, Liepard can shut down Carbink before it can set up Trick Room or stop it from doing much after. Thunder Wave is also unpleasant for a lot of threats that would switch in after Carbink as well.
