Gliscor

Gliscor, The Fang Scorp Pokémon. It observes prey while hanging inverted from branches. When the chance presents itself, Gliscor swoops! Its flight is soundless. It uses its lengthy tail to carry off its prey... Then its elongated fangs do the rest.

Overview

Gliscor is an extremely versatile Pokémon that can fulfill plenty of roles in many teams either as a stallbreaker, as a hazard setter or even as a hazard remover thanks to its excellent movepool in terms of support and offense. It's Hidden Ability, Toxic Heal makes Gliscor immune to other status effects once it kicks in allowing it to even ignore the prominent effect of Knock Off in PvP battles. It's great defensive typing, good Speed and flexibility makes it one of the best Pokémon to use in BDSP.
Positives
Gliscor's excellent Ground and Flying type combination means that it gains an immunity to Electric and Ground attacks while boasting resistances to Bug, Fighting and Poison.
Poison Heal is what sets Gliscor apart from other Pokémon as it allows it to heal from an otherwise damaging status problem while making it immune to the other ailments.
Gliscor boast a decent Speed tier at base 95 and an otherwise excellent raw stat of base 125 Defense. This makes Gliscor decently bulky from the physical side while being faster than other tanks such as Milotic or Skarmory. It's overall well-rounded stats makes it a Pokémon suitable for many roles.
Negatives
It's lower base 75 Special defense and a x4 weakness to Ice makes Gliscor very vulnerable against strong special attacks from the likes of Lati@s while fearing Ice STAB from the likes of Mamoswine, Froslass and Weavile. Water types such as Suicune, Milotic and Starmie can also exploit the lower of its defenses.
Gliscor can't really do a lot of damage without a boost which means that more defensive sets will have issues damaging powerhouses such as Salamence or Garchomp who can use Gliscor as set up fodder.

Movesets

Nightwing

- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Earthquake
- Facade
Item Attached: Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs and Nature:
244 HP / 148 SpD / 116 Spe
Jolly Nature

Gliscor's excellent movepool, typing, speed and bulk allows it to perform magnificently as a stallbreaker ready to break through most defensive cores with the proper support on its team. Swords Dance allows Gliscor to increase its Attack to respectable levels and double its damage output. Thanks to its STAB Earthquake, Gliscor can hit hard Pokémon like Metagross and Jirachi. Facade complements Gliscor extremely well as it doubles in power once Poison Heal is triggered and offers decent neutral coverage with Earthquake. Ice Fang is an alternate option that complements Earthquake in terms of coverage and allows Gliscor to hit Garchomp, Dragonite and Salamence much more harder at the expense of worsening the matchup against Pokémon like Moltres and Rotom formes.

DYNAMAX:
Gliscor is unable to Dynamax at this time

EVs and Items:
116 Speed EVs allows Gliscor to outspeed max Speed Adamant Lucario and Timid Heatran allowing Gliscor to smack them first into smithereens. The 244 HP EVs also make Gliscor's HP reach a multiple of eight, which means it will gain the maximum amount of health possible from Poison Heal. The rest is dumped into Special Defense allowing Gliscor to take into threats such as Gengar and tank their attacks.

Other Options:
Once HOME is released, Gliscor will regain access to Toxic which will make it an even better Pokémon than what it already is. This will also make hazard setter and Defog sets much more viable which will definitely have a huge impact on the metagame.

Partners:
Gliscor appreciates Magnezone's ability to trap Skarmory and eliminate it, allowing Gliscor to wreck through defensive teams with this set up. Alternatively, Pokémon that can take Ice and Water attacks are fantastic partners. Which means that Gliscor will partner very nicely with Water types who appreciate Gliscor's ability to check Electric types while being able to cover its weakness for him. Starmie and Manaphy heavily appreciate Gliscor's ability to check Raikou and Jolteon. Breloom is another Pokémon that complements Gliscor extremely well thanks to its ability to check Rotom-Wash, one of its archnemesis.

Countering Gliscor

STAB Ice attacks will make Gliscor run away for its life. This means that Pokémon like Weavile and Mamoswine will easily dent its high Defense thanks to Gliscor's x4 weakness to Ice and OHKO it with one of their powerful STABs.

Bulky Water types such as Suicune, Milotic and Vaporeon are usually capable of tanking many of its hits and retaliate either with a super-effective STAB or destroy it with an Ice coverage move. Starmie is also much more faster and hits quite harder as it's usually equipped with a Life Orb and will OHKO Gliscor.

Pokémon immune to Earthquake such as Rotom-Wash is an excellent check for Gliscor as it does not appreciates tanking a STAB Hydro Pump even coming from a defensive set.
