Seaking, The Goldfish Pokémon. In Autumn spawning season, they can be seen swimming powerfully up rivers and creeks. It's the male's job to make a nest by carving boulders from the stream with the horn on it's head. During mating season, Seaking gather from all over, making rivers a brilliant red. When Autumn comes, the males patrol the area around their nests to protect it's offspring. In Autumn, the male can be seen performing courtship dances in the Riverbed. At this time of year, it is at it's most beautiful state. It's very protective of it's eggs. It guards them for over a month with the Male and Female taking turns in patrolling.
Battle Moveset
A Good Moveset for Seaking would have to be this:
Attacks:
Rain Dance
Surf
Flail
Megahorn
Items Attached:
Focus Band
Preferred Nature:
Mild
Strategy Using Seaking
Seaking may have poor special attack, but that doesn't mean it can use such an attack, it should gain STAB, if thats what you so desperately desire.
As usual, I would put surf with Rain dance, but it can learn Hydro pump and has low special attack, this should be considered as a possible replacement of surf. Although you may not agree with hydro pump due to its low PP and 80% accuracy.
Use Rain dance to boost its speed from the Swift swim ability. Also, this allows for the chance for your opponent to attack, and hopefully, triggering Focus band. An added bonus from Rain dance is the 50% increase in strength of water attacks(boosts Surf's STAB boosted base power to 213.75, or Hydro Pump's 270 boost in strength)
If Seaking does not faint, then Flail should work quite well, with that average attack strength. I don't know why Seaking has such a bad name, or why it isn't used that much, its a good pokemon.
If you are really obsessed with stats, then I suggest you just go for an all out physical sweeper. This set provides a little bit of difference, that I've put a lot of thought into(like I do with all them), if you don't like it, that's fine.
Its special defense is its greatest, defense-wise, its other defense, is kinda bad. Attack with Physical attacks if you want to deal the most damage, or with super effective moves too.
Megahorn is probably the strongest move, other than Surf/Hydro pump, that Seaking can learn, although it has 85% accuracy, its still a good move that could do a considerable amount of damage.
Like I stated before, If you don't want Focus band and Flail on this moveset, replace with Liechi/Salac berry and Return. Otherwise, happy Pokemon battling. If you have problems concering this movesets, you know where to flame...I mean post.
If you don't want Rain dance + Hydro pump/Surf, then replace them with Physical type moves too, although you will have trouble filling in those slots.
Still, Seaking is one of my favourite Pokemon, and have used in the past, just like most water pokemon. Now don't go into the thread on the forums saying "OMGWTF, you gave Seaking surf!???????", yes, everyone should know Seaking has a 65 base special attack.
Here's a summary of the other possible moveset I have given you: Seaking@Liechi berry/Salac berry/Leftovers - Megahorn, Return, Rain dance, Hydro pump/Surf(normally I would've used this moveset, but as they say "Variety is the spice of life")
The nature and EV's were the hardest to decide, due to Seaking relying on most of its stats within this movesets. But mild increases its special attack, while reducing its defense, EV's are meant to boost its speed and offensive stats.
EV Corner:
Max out the EVs in Speed for Seaking with any remaining in Special Attack & Attack
Strategy Against Seaking
Seaking's Defenses are both Above Average but it's Physical is lower so Physical Attacks or Grass/Electric Attacks should work fine
Contest Moveset
A good Contest Moveset for Seaking would have to be this for the Cool Contest best with Lonely, Adament, Naughty or Brave Nature:
Attacks:
Agility
Megahorn
Horn Drill
Hyper Beam
Items Attached:
Red Scarf
Strategy Using Seaking
If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Agility, 2nd - Megahorn, 3rd - Horn drill, 4th - Megahorn, 5th - Hyperbeam
