Magby, The Live Coal Pokémon. Each time it breathes, hot embers dribble out of it's mouth and nose. It is found in volcanic craters. It's Body Temp exceeds 1,100 Degrees. It's flame it breathes is the same temperature as it's body, 1,100 Degrees. It is said that when many appear, it heralds a Volcanic Eruption. It's state of health is determined by observing it's fire. If it's fire is yellow, it is doing well...when it's tired, Black Smoke will be mixed with the fire

Ok, so this moveset works best on Magmar and if you intend to evolve Magby, then, this should work well. Anyways, if you're planning to keep Magby as a pokemon just for a fun in game team then I suggest the possibility of baton passing some stats over to it.
Flamethrower is for STAB obviously and with Magby's speed (which isn't too bad) it should be able to hit first against some pokemon. Sure, it doesn't have the best special attack but Magby cannot be used for much else other than a physical sweeper or annoyer.
Thunderpunch to cover its water weakness and Psychic as a nice special sweeping move. Confuse ray is there to give that extra help to surviving in the battle. Once evolved into Magmar, its special attack becomes greater than its attack so this is in preparation if you wish to evolve it. Also, you might want to consider Brick break over Confuse Ray, although not a Special move, will cover more types.

Max out the EVs in Speed & Special Attack for Magby with any remaining in Hit Points

Magby's Defenses are both below average...moreso with Physical...attack it with a volley of Physical attacks and Super Effective attacks and it'll crumble
