Heatmor

Heatmor, The Anteater Pokémon. It breathes through a hole in its tail while it burns with an internal fire. Durant is its prey. Using their very hot, flame-covered tongues, they burn through Durant's steel bodies and consume their insides.

Overview

Heatmor is a weird Pokemon. Not a very good one.. It's offensive stats are good and its HP is ok, but Speed and defenses are awful. It does virtually nothing other Fire types can't. Houndoom does almost everything it can do it better. It's supposed to prey upon Durant yet Durant easily 2HKOs it with X-Scissor or even OHKOs with Dig. Pretty bad predator huh? On the bright side it's shiny sprite is cool and it has a suggestive pattern on it's abdomen. That's something good right?

Abilities

Gluttony: Eats a berry early.. Who uses Berries? I guess you could try a Sub Salac set but.. it's not worth the effort.
Flash Fire: Makes you immune to fire moves while giving you a 1.5x boost to your own fire moves if you are hit with one. Easily the best ability and only one you should ever use.
White Smoke: Prevents stat changes by your opponent. Useless as this will probably just protect you from Intimidate.

Movesets

The only set worth using

- Fire Blast
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Focus Blast
Item Attached: Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs and Nature:
EVs: 252 Atk / 80 SAtk / 176 Spd
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)

Let's be realistic here. While Heatmor's offensive stats are passable the rest of it's stats are horrible. It's typing is also horrible. Other Fire types like Houndoom, Moltres, Simisear, Emboar and Entei all outclass Heatmor as an offensive Fire type. Use this in Neverused tier so it won't face competition from Houndoom. While Heatmor will never sweep (it's too slow) it can be an effective trapper. Switching in on defensive Grass, Ghost and Psychic types like Exeggutor and Misdreavous puts them in a dangerous position. Switch and eat a Pursuit, or stay in and take a Fire Blast. Sucker Punch gives Heatmor some utility, blasting away some faster attackers. Focus Blast is literally the only thing Heatmor can do that Houndoom can't (though if you can use Houndoom you still shouldn't use Heatmor at all). Speed EVs outrun max speed Modest Exeggutor and 12 speed Misdreavous allowing you to strike them hard if they stay in. Max Attack lets Pursuit do as much damage as it can with the rest dumped in Special Attack to let Fire Blast do some respectable damage. If you want you can run a speed boosting nature and use more Special Attack but they you're just using an inferior *insert Fire type here.

EVs & Natures

Heatmor
Lonely boosts Attack so your Sucker Punches do as much damage as they can. Heatmor will find more switch ins against Grass types so Special Defense is more valuable than Physical Defense. 176 Speed outruns max speed Exeggutor. You can run more speed but Heatmor won't outrun much else that is useful.

Other Options

Fire Spin, Tickle / Curse, Will-o-Wisp, Choice Scarf, Hone Claws / Inferno, Rain Dance
If you want to add to Heatmor's trapping ability Fire Spin can do just that. It's very weak though and more often than not you'll just end up Fire Spinning something you can't hurt anyway.
Tickle or Curse can work with Pursuit to make sure a Ghost type stays dead. Curse especially can keep Heatmor alive a little longer.
Will-o-Wisp burns stuff. There's really no downside to burning your counter unless it has Guts.
Choice Scarf might pull off a surprise KO which is all you can ask for when using something this bad.
Hone Claws could pair with Inferno to boost it's accuracy to passing levels and make Sucker Punch do decent damage.
Rain Dance is an option for comedic purposes.. Probably the worst thing it could ever use.

Double & Triple Battle Options

Don't use Heatmor at all. It's slow, frail and it's only good Doubles / Triples move is Heat Wave.

Partners

Rapid Spin is nice. It's weak to Stealth Rocks so pairing it with a Sandslash will go a long way to keeping Stealth Rocks off the field. Heatmor also preys upon grass types so anything that benefits from them being gone does well.

Countering Heatmor

If you aren't weak to Fire you can probably take down Heatmor. Its really not a good Pokemon at all. The only thing it MIGHT do besides throw around Fire Blasts is Pursuit something so just be aware that your Exeggutor is in a lot of danger against it. Bulky Water types beat it without much fear. Nearly all Dragons demolish it. Rock types laugh at it. Really just be careful of Pursuit and you should have little trouble here.
