Lickitung, The Licking Pokémon. Whenever it sees something unfamiliar, it always licks the object because it memorizes things by texture and taste. It is somewhat put off by sour things. Its tongue is twice the length of its body. It can be moved like an arm for grabbing food and attacking. Its tongue can be extended like a chameleon's. It leaves a tingling sensation when it licks enemies. Battle Moveset A Good Moveset for Lickitung would have to be this: Attacks:
Double-Edge / Body Slam / Return Items Attached: Leftovers Preferred Nature: Impish / Careful Strategy Using Lickitung Lickitung is a pretty sad NU Pokémon. It's defensive stats are passable by those standards but it's offensive stats are shambles. The best thing it has going for it is Knock Off and the second best is the Wish ability it gets from NYPC moves. Those are essentially it's core moves to be using. A STAB attack to back things up (DE for damage, Slam for Paralysis and Return for reliability) since it's poor attack stat against poor (NU) defensive stats stand a chance of doing some use and either a support attack for resistant types or Toxic for consistent damage. Heal Bell gets a mention since it's one of the few Pokémon who get it (and it can be used in conjuncture with the Wish NYPC move) but it'll struggle to find an appropriate time to use it when it's in the middle of passing Wishes and Knocking Off items. Counter also gets a mention since it's decent HP stat gives it a lot of countering potential. EV Corner: It's pretty difficult to set a defined EV set-up for Lickitung, especially with the variations in sets, but here's a generally balanced defensive set-up:
EVs: 124 HP / 134 Def / 252 SDef Of course if you're using two offensive moves then you might want 'some' attack to be able to make use of them and if you're using Counter you might want max HP (and maybe even max Def). Mix and match it to your personal needs. Other Optional Sets:
Lickitung @ Salac / Liechi Berry If you Baton Pass this guy a speed boost of some sort this set might have some hope. Without a speed boost, Sub-Drum may be workable. Stick the last EV wherever you fancy, it won't do much if anything.
Lickitung @ Leftovers Special Attacker and Special Wall… I mention Psych Up since that might actually work against Calm Minders. It gets surprise with Special Attacks so you might catch an unfortunate Mawile off-guard with a Fire Blast or a Golem with Ice Beam. Once again, Knock Off is it's top move and should be abused when possible.
Lickitung @ Choice Band Mandatory generic normal-type CB set. There's plenty of normal types who can do this job ten times better so use one of them instead. Strategy Against Lickitung Main thing to watch out for is Knock Off. Unfortunately, only Muk and Swalot can counter this on the switch. The only other reliable thing is to set up a Sub before Lickitung uses it, if that isn't an option you just need to pick a Pokémon who can survive without it's hold item and repeatedly switch it into Knock Offs as you predict them coming to reduce to the damage from lost items. It also gets Heal Bell, Wish and Counter, pretty much its only potential moves to watch out for. It gets a wide offensive move pool like the rest of the generic normal-typed Pokémon but it lacks the ability to make good use of it with poor offensive stats. It's still something not be weary of however if you suspect an offensively orientated Lickitung. Contest Moveset A good Contest Moveset for Lickitung would have to be this for the Cool Contest best with Lonely, Adament, Naughty or Brave Nature: Attacks:
Sunny Day Items Attached: Red Scarf Strategy Using Lickitung If you do the attacks in this following order you should have very few problems; 1st - Sunny day, 2nd - Flamethrower, 3rd - Sunny day, 4th - Flamethrower/Fire Blast, 5th - Hyper beam Locations in Games
