Rainbow Road is a classic stage which moves around the Rainbow Road course from Mario Kart 7. During the course of the stage, it will stop at various parts for you to battle, while at others, it will just fly by giving you panoramic views of the various planets in the area as well as the race course itself.

Where the stage stops is completely random out of a number of options. These include flat plains on a planetoid, on the race course and so forth.

At certain times when the battle has stopped, you will get a warning. When this warning appears, you have to prepare yourself for the incoming Shy Guy who are racing on the course. These Shy Guy will constantly hit eachother and potentially hit you, causing decent damage and throwback.
