Masterpieces are a small feature in Brawl. These are essentially short demos of the games that many of the characters in-game originate from. These are timed and give you the ability to do many things in the game to give you the feel, but prevent you from playing through it all, essentially to give you a taster of possible games to download

The first masterpiece in chronological order is Donkey Kong. In what can be classed as a crossover, the level you play in the Masterpiece is the same level that the stage 75m was based on.

As Fire Emblem became a late player in the Western market, the Masterpiece version of the game only exists in the Japanese version. This game has you play the SNES Fire Emblem entry Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem for three minutes allowing you to get the lay of the land and to even go into combat

The Metroid game is not the first nor second game in the series but rather the last 2D one before the franchise got rejuvinated in the 2000's. This game gives you two possible game files in which to play from. One where you start off at the beginning of the game, and another where you are near the end of the game. The first one will give you a feel for the start of the game while the second gives you all the items. You can even fight Ridley in what will make you think back to one of the Boss fights in the Subspace Emissary

The game that many argue is the greatest game of all time also makes its appearance as the final Masterpiece in the game. Like Super Metroid, this masterpiece features two seperate save files. The first has you as you're starting off in the Kokiri Forest as Young Link. The second file has you as Adult Link in Hyrule Field. You have the ability to call upon Epona and ride around the field and try and make it to the various areas within the game
