HAL Laboratory started off as a small developer in Japan in 1980 and, for a long time, had Satoru Iwata, later head of Nintendo, run as its President. This company is most well known for the Kirby franchise but has also developed several titles for the Pokémon franchise including the start of the Pokémon Ranger series.
