Gameplay

Pokémon Smile is unique in that the game is not played by you pressing buttons or touching a screen, but through the use of your mobile device's front-facing camera.

The gameplay is simple. Bacteria will keep invading a simulation of your teeth and your Pokémon will attack it, doing damage by how well you brush your teeth. You need to be fast and follow the guide in the bottom right to position the toothbrush best. Eventually, a Pokémon will appear, covered in bacteria and you have to keep the area clean of bacteria in order to have a better chance of catching it.

A manual toothbrush works better in activating this game over an electric.

Once you have played, you cannot play again for 4 hours.

Catching Pokémon is quite simple. Once you have finished brushing your teeth, then you get a chance to capture. It's set up similar to Pokémon GO but you just need to throw the ball to attempt a catch. The more bacteria you have removed while brushing your teeth, the better the chances of catching a Pokémon. Each Pokémon has a set Hit Points based on the HP they have in the main games and the speed in which the bacteria returns is based on their Speed stat in the main game

If you managed to get the area clear of bacteria and cleared the Pokémon of it as well, then you have a guaranteed capture with a Master Ball.

After you have captured or failed to capture a Pokémon, you will then be able to decorate photos that the game have taken of you with various stickers.

You gain more stickers for each day you have brushed your teeth.
