Details
The Pokémon World Championships are not open to all, but rather require participants to earn Championship Points through Internet Competitions, Premier Challenges, Regional Championships and National Championships in their location of residence. Based on this, the invitations go out as follows based on the amount of Championship Points earned through the season.

In addition to that the top players of each region also get a paid invite and a bye to go directly to Day 2. They are:
US & Canada: Top 8
Europe: Top 16
Latin America: Top 4
Asia Pacific: Top 4
Japanese & Korean players earn their invites through their own methods.
The day schedule is as follows. All matches are best-of-three.
Friday
Swiss Rounds. Any player with 2 or less losses at the end will progress to Saturday.
Saturday
Swiss Rounds for winners from Friday and players with a Day 2 invitation. It ends with a Top Cut for all players with no more than 2 losses and 0 ties.
Sunday
The Finals.
