The next Battle Competition has been announced. This is the Alola Friendly competition. The rules for this competition have yet to be announced but we'll update as soon as they come. Pokémon GO Update
The second leg of the Holiday 2016 Pokémon GO event has begun. In this event, which runs until January 8th, the Starter Pokémon of Kanto and their evolutions will be more common to find. In addition to this, Lure Modules will now last 60 minutes rather than 30 minutes for the duration of the event.

A few brand new challenges have begun on Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Shuffle Mobile.
First up is a stage for Tornadus Therian Forme. This stage runs until January 10th 2017
Next, a repeat of the White Kyurem stage has begun and will run until January 10th 2017
Finally, aa repeat of the Daily Winking Pokémon will be running until January 3rd 2017. Today is Charmander, tomorrow is Squirtle, Thursday is Bulbasaur, Friday is Jigglypuff and Monday is Clefairy

The smartphone game, Pokémon Comaster, has had a new update. This update takes it up to Version 2.1.0 and provides a variety of bug fixes and the addition of the special Water Cup Online event where all players can enter with a team including Water Pokémon to earn prizes. Pokémon GO Update
A new event has been revealed for Pokémon GO. From December 25th to January 3rd, there will be a higher chance of Pokémon from Johto appearing as Eggs from Poké Stops. Festive Pikachu will now also run until January 3rd rather than December 29th. In addition to this, you're guaranteed one incubator. In addition to this, from December 30th through January 8th, the Kanto starters will have a higher chance of appearing and Lure Modules will last 60 minutes.

To celebrate the opening of the Pokémon Center in Sapporo, an Alolan Vulpix distribution was given from December 1st in the Pokémon Center in Sapporo. However, it has now been confirmed that the distribution will now also run in all other Pokémon Centers and Pokémon Stores across Japan from February 1st 2017 to March 12th 2017. If you received the Alolan Vulpix in Sapporo, you won't be able to get it again.

Pokémon GO is now available to download for all Apple Watch users. This version of the software links with your game and allows for you to hatch eggs and activate PokéStops, as well as see wild Pokémon without having your phone out. If you are in the top 200 in Eurpe, you will get 5 Raise Max Level, 5 Mega Speedup and 1 Skill Swapper. If you are in the top 500 in Europe, you will get 4 Raise Max Level, 4 Mega Speedup and 1 Skill Swapper. If you are in the top 1000 in Europe, you will get 3 Raise Max Level, 3 Mega Speedup and 1 Skill Swapper. Battles for the next Battle Competition have begun. This is the Battle of Alola competition. This competition is a Single Battle competition and runs unique rules. These rules allow for you to use all Pokémon currently available in Pokémon Sun & Moon, including Solgaleo, Lunala, Magearna and Ash-Greninja, but you can only use one Special Pokémon in your team like Solgaleo & Lunala. No items are allowed. Battles run from December 16th through December 18th. All entrants get 50BP

With this, several companies including Nintendo have put out special apps which add stickers and The Pokémon Company has joined in with this. Pokkén Tournament
The latest Pokkén Tournament Arcade event has begun. This event is a multiple facet event and runs from today until December 25th with a New Years expansion from December 26th to January 9th. First, Empoleon is now available to all Pokkén Tournament arcade players. Next, a special Event Mission Panel has begun with a variety of missions which, once completed, give the Latios & Yveltal Support Pokémon set, as well as a variety of festive titles and outfits.
Until December 25th, all experience gained in the game will be multiplied by 1.2 for quicker level ups
As part of the random Special Bonuses after matches, a lot of new items of clothing and titles have become available, including Santa costumes for sale on the Pokkén Tournament Web Interface.

The free piece of Nintendo 3DS software, Nintendo Badge Arcade, had its weekly update in Japan. This week it has once again introduced multiple panels of badges of Pokémon to earn. These panels include various more new Pokémon to the ones previously obtainable. We're currently cataloguing all of these badges and will update our Nintendo Badge Arcade section shortly

Pokémon the Movie 2017 - World Premiere
As an annual tradition each December, it has been announced that the world premiere of the upcoming movie due for release in Japan in July 2017 will air on the Japanese variety show Oha Suta at 07:05 JST tomorrow. This will provide the first information and footage of the movie. We'll provide the details as soon as they come so keep checking back
Edit @ 22:26: The episode of Oha Suta has aired and has revealed the movie. It is called Pokémon: I Choose You (ポケットモンスター キミにきめた! ). In the trailer, it showcased various landscapes and Pallet Town, and showed Ash putting on his hat, followed by Pikachu. The poster features Ash & Pikachu in a field with Ho-Oh flying over. Pokémon Sun & Moon - Global Mission
The first Pokémon Sun & Moon Global Mission is now over on Pokémonm Sun & Moon. This Global Mission was to have all players catch 100 million Pokémon. Unfortunately, the mission is counted as a failure as only 16,423,231 Pokémon were caught and catalogued at that time. As such, the failure reward of 100FC, or 200FC if the game is registered on the Global Link is now available. On this note, it was also said that the targets will be altered based on this mission. The next mission has also been announced. This mission has you look for Pokémon using Island Scan. It will run from December 27th 2016

Pokémon Shuffle - Events
A few brand new challenges have begun on Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Shuffle Mobile.
First, there is a once a day chance to get a special Holiday Delibird with the chance of capture increasing each day. This runs until December 26th 2016
Next, a new Pokémon Safari has begun. This Safari contains Lillipup, Herdier, Stoutland, Pikachu (Holiday), Vanillite (Holiday), Snover (Holiday) and Cubchoo (Holiday). It runs until December 26th 2016
Next, a stage has begun for Black Kyurem. It runs until December 27th 2016
Finally, the Reshiram stage has begun a repeat run until December 27th 2016

If you were one of the lucky players worldwide who ranked in the Mega Abomasnow competitive stage over the past week, then the Abomasite is now available to be received. The Attack Power, Mega Speedup and Raise Max Level for the higher ranked players will also be obtained. If you didn't qualify, then you can redeem an Attack Power. To get these items, simply Check In between now and September 9th 2016 at 06:00 UTC and you will receive the item.

The smartphone game, Pokémon Comaster, has had a new update. This update takes it up to Version 2.0.2 and provides a variety of bug fixes in regards to communication errors and error messages. Pokémon GO
The first huge update to Pokémon GO has been announced. This confirms that the Johto Pokémon are to come to Pokémon GO from today. Trainers around the world will have the opportunity to add Togepi, Pichu and select Pokémon originally discovered in the Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver video games to their Pokémon GO Pokédex through EEggs at Poké Stops. In addition to that, starting from today to December 29th, a special Pikachu wearing a festive hat will be findable for players. The press release implies that more Pokémon will be added as we go through early 2017

It has been confirmed that the San Jose Regional Championships this weekend are to be streamed by The Pokémon Company International. The streams will be separate TCG and VGC streams as has been done in all recent events. 4th & 5th of March a Regional will be held in Sheffield, the Ponds Forge International

22nd & 23rd of April there's a Special Competition at the CCC Lyon

A special distribution has been announced to be in this month's issue of CoroCoro. To continue the recent addition of Rockruff as the mascot of the magazine, the special distribution is to give you special Rockruff enhancement tools. In the magazine, you will receive a code which will give you a Lucky Egg and Choice Band in Pokémon Sun, or a Lucky Egg and Choice Scarf in Pokémon Moon. The next update to Pokémon GO has been announced. This update adds a variety of usability features. First, you will be able to transfer multiple Pokémon at once. Next, type icons are added to Gyms. Next, you can see the total candy amount for Pokémon in the Buddy screen and finally the Pokémon info screen now lists the distance you have walked. This patch is rolling out now so will be available in the next few days.

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Magearna
The Mythical Pokémon Magearna is now available for European & Australian Pokémon Sun & Moon players through a QR Code released at the end of the movie Volcanion & The Mechanical Marvel on the Pokémon TV app. To get it, simply scan the QR code provided into the QR Scanner in the game and it will allow for you to go to Hau'oli City's Mall to collect Magearna after becoming the Champion in the game. This can only be scanned once per game. It is Level 50 and comes with a Bottle Cap attached. This code does not expire.

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Battle Competition
The next Battle Competition has been announced. This is the Battle of Alola competition. This competition is a Single Battle competition and runs unique rules. These rules allow for you to use all Pokémon currently available in Pokémon Sun & Moon, including Solgaleo, Lunala, Magearna and Ash-Greninja, but you can only use one Special Pokémon in your team like Solgaleo & Lunala. No items are allowed. Registration is live now in Japan and will be in the west soon and will be open until December 15th 23:59 UTC and battles will run from December 16th through December 18th. All entrants get 50BP

Pokémon Sun & Moon - Battle Spot Glitch
A new note has been put out regarding a glitch on Battle Spot. When both sides Pokémon are knocked out causing both parties to have no Pokémon through the use of Rough Skin, Aftermath, Liquid Ooze, Iron Barbs, Innards Out and Rocky Helmet, the trainer whose ability caused the opponent Pokémon to get Knocked Out would be determined as the loser. However, there is currently an issue on Battle Spot where Rocky Helmet causing the knock out results in the trainer with the Pokémon holding Rocky Helmet to be determined the winner. Game Freak are currently investigating this issue, along with the issue with Memento & Parting Shot and hope to issue a fix soon

The top 1800 in North America, 1,400 in Europe & 6,000 in Japan will get a Abomasite and 2 Mega Speedups & 2 Raise Max Level. The top 4500 in North America, 3,400 in Europe & 15,000 in Japan will get a Abomasite and 1 Mega Speedup & 1 Raise Max Level. The top 9000 in North America, 6,800 in Europe & 30,000 in Japan will get a Abomasite and 1 a Mega Speedup and a Skill Booster M. The top 14,000 in North America, 10,000 in Europe & 45,000 in Japan will get a Abomasite and 1 Exp Booster L & 1 Disruption Delay. The top 18,000 in North America, 14,000 in Europe & 60,000 in Japan will get a Abomasite and 1 Disruption Delay. The top 24,000 in North America, 18,000 in Europe & 80,000 in Japan will get an Attack Power and a Disruption Delay. All other players get a Disruption Delay.

For those of you in Europe, Australia & North America, a second chance event for Arceus has gone live in both North America and Europe on XY & ORAS. In North America, this is through the code ARCEUS20 and in Europe it's through the code ARCEUS2016 and these codes can be redeemed until December 31st 2016. It won't work if you obtained Arceus during the events held around the world earlier this year.

As we have done since 2003, this year I have created an Advent Calendar. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the term, an Advent Calendar is essentially a countdown until Christmas. Every day, a new puzzle and a variety of new downloads for you to enjoy. As time goes on, the puzzles get harder and the downloads get more plentiful, so be sure to check back every day.
