As we hit April 1st in various parts of the world, if you take AR Photos in GO Snapshot mode after midnight April 1st, instead of Smeargle appearing to photo bomb the photo, now an image of Ash or Ash Cap Pikachu will photobomb the image and Ash Cap Pikachu will appear and can be captured. This can be done 5 times a day. This marks a return of the Ash Cap Pikachu since it was last available over a year ago. We'll provide further details as we get them

Today is the Limited Research Day in Pokémon GO that focuses on Lotad. From 11am to 8pm local time, there will be unique research from each PokéStop that focuses on tasks to obtain Lotad, which can now be shiny. In addition to that, there will be increased spawns of Castform's Normal Form, which can also now appear shiny, and standard weather boosted spawns are increased in quantity as well. A new Pokémon GO update is starting to roll out across Android, with an iOS release expected in a few days. This game update brings Pokémon GO up to Version 1.107.1/0.139.1 and includes a few new features. The first is the capability for a new feature called "Lucky Friends". This feature allows for you to become Lucky Friends with another player. This means that your next trade with them will guarantee a Lucky Pokémon. At present it's not clear what mechanics unlock this feature and when it'll be live. It also adds a new feature to allow for notifications from Pokémon GO to stack together.
Finally, it adds the new search tag for searching your Pokémon of "Costume". This allows for you to search for Pokémon wearing costumes from events such as the various hat Pikachu, Sunglasses Squirtle and the Flower Crown Eevee

Pokémon Bank Distributions
For those of you with Pokémon Bank, new distributions have begun. These provide the Pokémon Oranguru and Passimian with their Hidden Abilities of Symbiosis and Defiant respectively. Passimian has the moves Close Combat, U-turn, Knock Off a and Gunk Shot while Oranguru has the moves Instruct, Foul Play, Trick Room and Ally Switch. These all have your OT/ID and have no special moves and can be picked up from the Pokémon Center after receiving them on Bank. It's currently unknown when this distribution will end. Niantic have announced the next possible Pokémon GO event. If enough people participate in their Earth Day clean up from April 13th to April 28th, then there will be various bonuses introduced in Pokémon GO
If 2000 attend, there will be an increased appearance of Ground-type Pokémon.
If 5,000 attend, then there will be an increased appearance of Ground-type Pokémon and shiny Diglett will become available
If 7,000 attend, then will be an increased appearance of Ground-type Pokémon, Shiny Diglett, 2* Catch Stardust & Candy for Event spawns and Groudon will return to raids.

The Battle Spot Special Battle rules for Season 15 have been revealed. Season 15 will run from April 2nd through June 17th and runs on Sun & Moon and Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, with rankings separate to eachother. This ruleset only allows Pokémon that can only have the move Metronome across all generations (except Mewtwo, Dusclops and Dusknoir)

A new Team Match event has opened pre-registration in Pokémon Duel. This Duel Match has you choose a team of either Dragonite, Garchomp or Salamence. During the Team Match, you just play as normal online and your wins count towards your team. Some new footage for Pokémon Detective Pikachu has been shown on various TV stations in the US. This footage doesn't show much new but features more of the interactions with Pikachu, Tim and Lucy. It does also showcase the first look at Gyarados. At present we are currently awaiting official footage of this so be sure to keep checking back

Pokémon Japan Championships 2019
Details for the Japan Championships 2019 have been revealed. The Championships will run on June 8th and June 9th in the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Center in Chiba City, Japan and have three different elements to it. June 8th are the qualifiers for each league and June 9th's battles are the main battles for those who got through Day 1
First is the VGC competition. This runs Ultra Series VGC 2019 rules and entry is only possible through ranking highly in the Japan Championships Qualifier Online Competition next month
The TCG runs as it normally does with the event rewarding points that can be used to gain an invite to the World Championships through various City Leagues. The Japan Championships give 600 Points to the Winner.
Finally, there is a Pokkén Tournament DX qualifier which runs the standard Double Elimination Format with the battles being Team Battles. It has a cap of 32 Players in Seniors and 128 Players in Masters.
All elements result in invites to the Pokémon World Championships in Washington D.C. this August.

The next special Group Match has been begun on Pokkén Tournament DX. From March 22nd through March 24th, you can participate in the "Searing Blaze" Group Match. This cup is a Team Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Charizard, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement. If you already received the title from the last time it ran, you will not receive it again

In addition to this, it has been confirmed that there will be a Secret Rare card. At present it's not clear what the Secret Rare card is, or if it'll be included in our set. With the announcement of the release date for Detective Pikachu in Japan, May 3rd 2019, two of the voice actors who are dubbing over the voices of the characters have been revealed. Previously, it was confirmed that Ryoma Takeuchi will voice Tim Goodman, portrayed by Justice Smith, it is now confirmed that Marie Iitoyo will voice Lucy Stevens, portrayed by Kathryn Newton. In addition to this, it's confirmed that Ken Watanabe, who plays Detective Yoshida in the movie, will also dub over his character in Japanese

The new Pokémon GO event is now live. This event is the Equinox 2019 event and runs for a week until 20:00 UTC on March 26th 2019. This event features an increase of Grass-type Pokémon spawns, as well as specific research exclusive for the event and Grass-type Pokémon in Raid Battles. In addition to this, two new moves have been added to the game. Acid Spray has been added as a move for Arbok, Victreebel, Tentacruel, Muk, Alolan Muk, Quagsire, Qwilfish, Octillery and Swalot and Leaf Tornado has been added for Shiftry & Victreebel. Both moves lower opponents Defense in Trainer Battles. For full details on this event, check our event section which will be added to as more details come.

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Battle Competition
Details for the next Battle Competition have been announced. This is the Pokémon Japan Championships 2019 competition and is for Japan only. This is a Double Battle competition using standard 2019 VGC rules where players can use 2 Restricted Pokémon (Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala & Necrozma) and is based on the Ultra Series where both Z-Crystals and Mega Evolutions are allowed. This competition offers a chance to qualify to the Japan Championships inside Japan. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 50 for the duration of the competition.
Registration runs from April 4th - April 19th. Battles will run from April 19th - April 22nd.
All entrants who play 3 or more matches will get a Shiny Tapu Fini which will be distributed some time in May

Today, we are covering a Pokémon introduced in the seventh generation. It eats dust in the atmosphere. The composition of the dust determines the color of its core. If its core stays exposed, it will soon die off. It's possible that it may survive if it's put into a Poké Ball quickly enough. Places where Minior fall from the night sky are few and far between, with Alola being one of the precious few. It lives in the ozone layer, where it becomes food for stronger Pokémon. When it tries to run away, it falls to the ground. Although its outer shell is uncommonly durable, the shock of falling to the ground smashes the shell to smithereens. Niantic have announced the next Pokémon GO event. This is the Equinox 2019 and features increased spawns of Grass-typ Pokémon, and Grass-types will also be prominent in Raids. There will also be unique Field Research for the event. Lunatone & Solrock will also switch hemispheres. Finally, Leaf Tornado is added to Victreebel, and Shifty while Acid Spray will be added to Arbok, Victreebel, Tentacruel, Muk, Alolan Muk, Quagsire, Qwilfish, Octillery and Swalot. It runs from March 19th at 20:00 UTC to March 26th at 20:00 UTC

The Raid Weekend has begun. Until 20:00 UTC on Monday March 18th, Rayquaza will join Dialga in Level 5 Raid Battles across the world. This gives players their second chance to get Rayquaza since it was first introduced back in March of last year., No Shiny variant of Rayquaza will be available

The Pokémon Company have officially announced the next Pokémon Trading Card Game set in Japan and have started revealing cards for it. This set is called GG End and will release in Japan on April 5th 2019. Pokémon Center Singapore
The first official permanent Pokémon Center outside of Japan since Pokémon Center New York closed down has finally had its opening day revealed. From April 17th 2019, the Pokémon Center Singapore will open at 78 Airport Boulevard, #04-201 & 202 in the Jewel Changi Airport. As previously reported, this Pokémon Center will sell many exclusive bits of merchandise and the usual merchandise exclusive to Pokémon Center stores.

Further details have been released for the upcoming distribution of Mewtwo when you prebook tickets of Mewtwo Strikes Back EVOLUTION in Japan. This Mewtwo is fully trained with max AVs in each stat with the moves Psychic, Shadow Ball, Barrier and Calm Mind. As said before, it comes at Level 70 and has the Quiet Nature. The first images from CoroCoro have leaked and have stated the basic information we know of Pokémon Sword & Shield including showcasing Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble. However, with it, there was a note saying: "Wait for the follow-up from CoroCoro". At present it's not clear whether the follow-up will be in the next issue, due out on April 15th, or in future issues but be sure to keep checking for more information

The Pokémon Duel update is now available. This update brings a variety of bug fixes. First, it has implemented the figure updates that were announced on Monday.
To celebrate 40 million downloads, some special bonuses are also happening. Until April 10th, you can get a 3 Day Duel Boost and a 3 Hour Enhanced Boost completely for free. There are also special Daily Log-In Bonuses to celebrate including Carmonite, Rare Metal and Coins. There is also a special Log-In bonus for logging in before April 9th of 400 AI Tickets, 100 Monthly Points and an Azumarill figure
Next, a plethora of new figures have been released

First details from CoroCoro have started to leak and have detailed the pre-booking distribution for the movie Mewtwo Strikes Back EVOLUTION in Japan. As with all past years, when you prebook a ticket, starting April 12th, you will receive a Serial Code to obtain a Pokémon. With this movie, you will receive a serial code to download Mewtwo to Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! & Let's Go, Eevee! and will have CP of 10,000. Today, the results for the 2019 International Challenge February and the subsequent announcement of the distribution of the Tapu Bulu gift were scheduled to be released. However, The Pokémon Company have put out a note saying that rankings have been delayed. This is due to a large fault that has hit the Pokémon Global Link. This fault is having the following effects:
Rating Battles - The Trainer & Pokémon Ranking will not update
Competitions - Rankings won't show up on competitions that ended after March 10th
My Page - Match history & records will not update
Top Page - All new data is not able to be updated
At present, a time frame hasn't been given on when these errors will resolve themselves but the developers are hard at work to resolve this problem

Nintendo America just put out a minor bit of new Pokémon Sword & Shield information. With this information, they have confirmed once and for all that the Stadium-like building scattered across the Galar Region are Gyms. This had been theorised but has now finally been confirmed. With this, a new element was introduced. Rather than Gym Leaders, the Gyms in Galar have got Gym Masters. At present it's unclear what the difference between the two are but we'll post as soon as we have more

A new update has started to rollout for Pokémon GO. This update brings the game up to Version 1.105.1 and brings a few fixes. It stops Smeargle from being able to learn TMs, adds 12 more Spinda forms to its Pokédex page including the recent Heart Spinda and a few other bug fixes. It's currently rolling out on Android and is expected to have a full rollout on Android and iOS over the next few days

Next week, a special box called the Family Pokémon Card Game set is coming out in Japan. This set is a box of three mini-decks made up of 51 different cards with all the Pokémon cards being brand new. The next special Group Match has been begun on Pokkén Tournament DX. From March 8th through March 10th, you can participate in the "Destructive Cannon" Group Match. This cup is a Basic Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Blastoise, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement. If you already received the title from the last time it ran, you will not receive it again

The Pokémon Company International have officially announced the next Pokémon TCG set. This set is called Unbroken Bonds and is to feature a set of 214 cards as standard, with more secret rares. This set features 7 Tag Team GX, 7 additional Pokémon GX and more than 25 trainer cards and a special energy card. It is due for release on May 3rd and is made up of the Double Blaze, Full Metal Wall and Night Unison Japanese sets. There are 18 cards in the set but between the set and promo cards there will be 27 different Detective Pikachu tie-in cards

Pokémon Duel - Tournament
The next in-game tournament has been announced for Pokémon Duel. This tournament has players enter with the Top 32 players being sent to the finals. The winner of the tournament will get a gold version of the figure of their choice while all other players may be able to receive a silver version of the same figure through timed boosters. Registration runs until 02:59 UTC on March 8th while the perliminary tournament runs from 03:00 UTC March 8th to 02:59 UTC on March 10th. The finals then run from 08:00 UTC to 12:20 UTC on March 11th. Only players with a ranking of 2100 or higher can participate in the tournament

A Japanese TV Guide has revealed new episode titles for upcoming episodes of the anime. These episodes are due to air on March 17th, 24th, 31st and April 7th respectively. The first episode has Ash & co. encounter a child actor Magikarp but something starts happening to it. The second episode features the Ultra Beast Pheromosa appear and start attacking trainers with Z-Crystals, but Meowth spots it and falls in love with the Pokémon. The third features the first appearance of the Team Skull leader, Guzma who comes marching to the Pokémon School after Kukui announces the formation of the Alola Pokémon League. The fourth episode features Lillie & Gladion looking into the whereabouts of their father, Mohn causing Lusamine to show them his old room...

Niantic have announced the next Pokémon GO event. This is the Battle Showdown event and runs from 21:00 UTC to March 12th 2019 at 21:00 UTC. In this event, Fighting-type Pokémon will have increased spawns while Shiny Mankey and Machop are to be available. With this, there's 2* experience for Gym Badges, 2* Catch, Battle & Raid Stardust and 5 rewards a day from Trainer Battles. In addition to this, the new move Power Up Punch has been added to Poliwrath, Hitmonchan, Kangaskhan, Medicham, and Lucario.

The next Pokémon GO Safari Zone has been announced. This Safari Zone takes place in Sentosa, Singapore and will run from April 18th to April 22nd. It will feature Pokémon spawns including Unown and Tropius. It will also include Shiny Shuckle. It is a ticketed event, with the method to get tickets not yet being detailed At present, further information is not known

The new Level 5 Raid Boss is now starting to appear in Pokémon GO. From now until 21:00 UTC on March 28th 2019, Dialga will appear as a Level 5 Raid Boss, with the lower level Raid Bosses changing

Pokémon GO & Let's Go Reminder
The currently running event in Pokémon GO is due to end on Tuesday at 08:00 UTC. This event gives you a chance to find Shiny Meltan when you open your Mystery Box in Pokémon GO, which can then be sent to Pokémon Let's Go. This event has been running since February 5th and also comes with the feature of Mystery Boxes being able to be opened every 3 days rather than the usual 7. Be sure to open up your Mystery Boxes in time

Some further information has been revealed about the upcoming Research Breakthrough for completing a week of research in March. The Research Breakthrough Pokémon as of tonight, March 1st at 21:00 UTC will be a random Pokémon the following: Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Regirock, Regice & Registeel.
