Pokémon Pikachu is a pedometer. It will track the steps you take. Every 7 steps will earn you and Pikachu 1 Watt. You can use these Watts to play the mini game, or give them to Pikachu to make him happy.

This is the time. It's important the time is set correctly for time based animations. Pikachu will not want to walk after he has gone to bed. You can also set an alarm on the clock function.

On this screen you can view how many Watts you have earned. You can then choose how many you want to give to Pikachu using the up and down buttons on the control pad. Pikachu will then react to how many Watts you have given him. Giving Pikachu 0 or a low amount of Watts will make him unhappy.

Selecting the coin symbol in the menu will take you to the mini game. Each spin of the wheel costs 5 Watts. You can only play if you have enough Watts. Press A to start the game, and A to stop the wheels spinning. Matching three of the same symbol will result in winning Watts. The highest amount of Watts you can win on this game is by matching three 7 symbols, which has a prize of 500 Watts.

On this screen you can see your relationship status with Pikachu, as well as your total number of steps. There are four levels of friendship with Pikachu. Mad with you, Ok with you, Likes you, and Loves you. Pikachu will move closer to the screen depending how much it loves you.

If you have not played/walked with Pikachu for some time it might run away. You can shake the device to have Pikachu return.

Pressing start button will bring up the option screen. Here you can reset the number on the top right of the screen back to 0 by pressing the reset option. It will be unable to count past 99999. The sound option is where you can choose to turn the device sound on and off. The time of the device can also be changed in the options.
