Alola Changes

Like with most enhanced versions, Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon introduce a variety of new areas to the region of Alola, giving new areas to explore, often with new features. This page will detail all the new areas found within Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

Big Wave Beach

Island: Melemele

Details:
Big Wave Beach is an area of Melemele Island. This beach connects to the Sandy Cave and contains a place for Surfers to gather and participate in Mantine Surf. It also contains shops to spend BP and contains a Move Tutor.
Dividing Peak Tunnel

Island: Akala

Details:
Previously just an unseen gate in Sun & Moon, the Dividing Peak Tunnel is a long tunnel which contains a couple of wild Pokémon: Kecleon & Wimpod.
Heahea Beach

Island: Akala

Details:
Heahea Beach is an area of Akala Island. This beach contains a place for Surfers to gather and participate in Mantine Surf. It also contains shops to spend BP and contains a Move Tutor.
Pikachu Valley

Island: Akala

Details:
Pikachu Valley is a location in Akala Island where Pikachu tend to gether. There are a lot of interactable Pikachu here, as well as a way to get the Pikashunium Z and Pikachu outfits.
Plains Grotto

Island: Poni

Details:
The Plains Grotto is a location found in the Poni Plains. This is a small cave containing a pedestal with the Kommonium Z.

Poni Beach is an area of Poni Island. This beach contains a place for Surfers to gather and participate in Mantine Surf.
Sandy Cave

Island: Melemele

Details:
Sandy Cave is a small cave on the coast of Melemele Island. This cave has several areas in it, divided by water.
Team Rocket's Castle

Island: Aether Paradise

Details:
Team Rocket's Castle was an alteration of the main building of the Aether Paradise after Team Rainbow Rocket had taken over the Aether Paradise. It contained many areas with various puzzles, items and wild Pokémon which disappeared upon completion.
Ula'ula Beach

Island: Ula'ula

Details:
Ula'ula Beach is an area of Ula'ula Island. This beach contains a place for Surfers to gather and participate in Mantine Surf. It also contains shops to spend BP and contains a Move Tutor and a Berry Tree.

In a difference to previous games, Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon allows you to explore areas outside of the main region

Ultra Megalopolis

Details:
Ultra Megalopolis is a large city located through the Ultra Wormhole. Home of the Ultra Recon Squad, this area had its light stolen by Necrozma and, when you go to visit it, due to Necrozma having been awakened, had people all locked away in hiding and only gave a small path to explore.

Flying through Ultra Space requires you to collect various orange orbs of energy. These will increase the speed of your Pokémon and allow it to travel further distances. The more you get the better, as their appearances are very frontloaded, being very rare as you progress. In addition to the wormholes, you will also see blue balls of electricity. If you hit these, then you will slow down and lose some energy. With smaller energy, you struggle to escape the gravity of the wormholes and eventually get dragged into the next one. There are multiple areas you can land on depending on the wormholes, mostly Ultra Space Wilds
