You will first encounter Articuno as you go through the Freezey Forest when a Fugitive from Pokémon Square. In this encounter you won't be able to befriend it.

When you return to Freezy Forest after saving the world in the postgame, you'll find Articuno there. Defeat it and it'll be recruited and, if you haven't already got it yet, give you the Legendary Island Camp

You will first encounter Zapdos as you go through the Mt. Thunder. In this encounter you won't be able to befriend it.

When you return to Mt. Thunder after saving the world in the postgame, you'll find Zapdos there. Defeat it and it'll be recruited and, if you haven't already got it yet, give you the Legendary Island Camp

When you return to Mt. Blaze after saving the world in the postgame, you'll find Moltres there. Defeat it and it'll be recruited and, if you haven't already got it yet, give you the Legendary Island Camp

Rare Skill Squeeze Out Ability: Pressure

After you have encountered Ho-Oh in Mt. Faraway, you will see Charizard and Blastoise have gone off on an adventure in a cave to the west where the most powerful Pokémon is said to exist. This opens up Western Cave for you. Upon completing the dungeon, on B20F you will find the Legendary Pokémon Mewtwo. It will Mega Evolve half way through the battle. Defeat it and it will automatically recruit and give you the Cryptic Cave Camp

You'll first encounter Raikou in Lightning Field after defeating Entei in the Fiery Field. Your first encounter has it enfuse colour into the Rainbow Wing, but after you have recruited Ho-Oh, you can return there and battle it again. When you do, it will join you and, if you haven't already received it, give you the Sacred Field Camp

You'll first encounter Entei in Fiery Field after you encounter Spinda in the Pokémon Square. It will tell you of a Mirage Pokémon that it has seen and gives you a Clear Wing. Your first encounter has it enfuse colour into the Wing, but after you have recruited Ho-Oh, you can return there and battle it again. When you do, it will join you and, if you haven't already received it, give you the Sacred Field Camp

Rare Skill Riled Up Ability: Pressure

You'll first encounter Suicune in Northwind Field after defeating Raikou in the Lightning Field. Your first encounter has it enfuse colour into the Rainbow Wing, but after you have recruited Ho-Oh, you can return there and battle it again. When you do, it will join you and, if you haven't already received it, give you the Sacred Field Camp

Rare Skill Strike Back Ability: Pressure

After you have befriended Latios and Latias, you will be able to recruit the Legendary Birds. If you do, Alakazam will appear and mention that there is a disturbance in Legendary Island. If you go there, the Legendary Birds will create a vortex to take you to the Silver Trench. Complete all 99 Floors of the Dungeon and you'll find Lugia at the top. Battle it and it will join you and give you the Deepsea Current Camp

Rare Skill Notorious Healing Ability: Pressure

After you have visited Raikou, Entei, Suicune and restored the Rainbow Wing, you'll gain access to the Mt. Faraway dungeon. At the top of the 60 floor dungeon, you'll find Ho-Oh. Battle it and it'll join you and you'll get the Rainbow Peak Camp

After defeating Kyogre in Stormy Sea, you'll learn through a letter in the mail a few days afterwards, of the Buried Relic where Mythical Pokémon are seen. After speaking to Lombre and then to Shiftry, the cave opens up. On Floor 15 you will find Regirock. Defeat it first time and you'll get the Rock Part which is used to make the Music Box. On your second encounter, you will be able to recruit Regirock if you have the Ancient Relic Camp area from Wigglytuff

After speaking to Lombre and then to Shiftry, the cave opens up. On Floor 25 you will find Regice. Defeat it first time and you'll get the Ice Part which is used to make the Music Box. On your second encounter, you will be able to recruit Regice if you have the Ancient Relic Camp area from Wigglytuff

After defeating Kyogre in Stormy Sea, you'll learn through a letter in the mail a few days afterwards, of the Buried Relic where Mythical Pokémon are seen. After speaking to Lombre and then to Shiftry, the cave opens up. On Floor 35 you will find Registeel. Defeat it first time and you'll get the Steel Part which is used to make the Music Box. On your second encounter, you will be able to recruit Registeel if you have the Ancient Relic Camp area from Wigglytuff

Rare Skill Thrown Item Boost Ability: Clear Body

After visiting Solar Cave and purchasing the Southern Island camp area, when you return to Pokémon Square, you'll learn of a robbery at Kecleon's shop and that they went towards the Northern Range. Follow them into the dungeon and at the end you'll find Latios who you have to battle. Defeat it and it'll mention its sister, Latias is stuck in the Pitfall Valley. Go to the dungeon and rescue Latias and they will both join you and give you the Southern Island

Rare Skill Shared Happiness Ability: Levitate

After visiting Solar Cave and purchasing the Southern Island camp area, when you return to Pokémon Square, you'll learn of a robbery at Kecleon's shop and that they went towards the Northern Range. Rare Skill Mind Over Matter Ability: Levitate

Right after finishing the game, when you return you will learn from Lombre and Whiscash of a big dungeon, Stormy Sea. When you get to the end of that dungeon, you'll encounter Kyogre. Battle it, where it undergoes Primal Reversion, and it will automatically recruit and give you the Seafloor Cave Camp

Rare Skill Tight Formation Ability: Drizzle

You'll first encounter Groudon during the story when you're a Fugitive and, when you first defeat it, you won't recruit it. After completing the game, when you return to visit Groudon you will battle it again, but this time it will undergo Primal Reversion. Defeat it and you'll receive the Volcanic Pit Camp and it'll be recruited

Rare Skill Notorious Restoration Ability: Drought

You'll first encounter Rayquaza at the end of the main storyline. After climbing Sky Tower, it will battle you and you'll defeat it and ask for its help as a giant asteroid is heading towards the planet. When you return in the postgame, it will battle you again. In this battle, it will Mega Evolve. Defeat it and it will automatically recruit and give you the Stratos Lookout Camp

Rayquaza Level 70

Rare Skill Brawl Ability: Air Lock

Getting Mew is different to most Pokémon. After defeating Kyogre in Stormy Sea, you'll learn through a letter in the mail a few days afterwards, of the Buried Relic where Mythical Pokémon are seen. After speaking to Lombre and then to Shiftry, the cave opens up. After beating Regirock, Regice and Registeel in the dungeon, you'll get the Music Box. From here, Mew will appear randomly at on B40F, B50F, B60F, B70F, B80F, B90F and B98F to battle. It has a random chance of joining you, however in order to do so you need to have purchased Final Island Camp from Wigglytuff in Pokémon Square

Rare Skill XP Booster Ability: Pressure

After you have befriended Latios and Latias, the Purity Forest Dungeon will appear. At the top of this 99 Floor Dungeon, you'll be able to find Celebi. Talk to it and it'll join you and give you the Healing Forest Camp

Celebi Level 55

Rare Skill Friendly Ability: Natural Cure

After you have befriended Latios & Latias, you'll find Whiscash and Medicham by Whiscash's pond talking about a dungeon. Return each day and they'll tell you more. The following day, Ekans will say Medicham is missing as he was KO'd in that dungeon. You'll find Medicham's request at the post office bulletin board. From there, you can enter Wish Cave. In your first run, it will stop at B20F and you get a Wish Stone from Medicham. Return there and get to B99F and you'll find Jirachi. Defeat it and it will offer you a chance to make a wish, selecting between multiple different options you will get a myriad of items. Jirachi will also be automatically recruited if you have the Mt. Moonview Camp

Rare Skill Friendly Ability: Serene Grace

After defeating Lugia in the Silver Trench, Xatu will appear at your base and you'll soon learn of a new cave that has opened up, which Xatu dubs the Meteor Cave. When you go in there, you will find lots of shadows of Deoxys to defeat. However, you cannot get past the stairs until you find and defeat the real Deoxys. In B20F, you'll finally corner Deoxys and battle it. If successful, it will automatically recruit and give you the Enclosed Island Camp
