Friendship

As with all Pokémon games, Pokémon Pokopia has a friendship system with the Pokémon in the game. This is different to the Comfort Level that they have, though their friendship can affect the growth of that as well.

Getting a Pokémon happy is fairly simple. If they come to you with a request, if you complete it their friendship gauge will increase. If you give them a gift, their friendship level will also increase.

As a Pokémon's friendship level with you increases, they will start to be happy seeing you around, and will even sometimes give you gifts of various materials they have found. As it approaches the highest level, the Pokémon will start to call you by your given name rather than Ditto.

Periodically, a Pokémon will come to you asking if you'd like to play a game. This can be a quiz, typically about another Pokémon that the Pokémon is friends with, or it can be a game like Look This Way

Look This Way has you have to pick what way the opponent is going to look. If you get it right, you win a point. If you get it wrong, the Pokémon wins the point. The most points after three rounds wins

With the game, you will always get a friendship boost for playing, but if you win the friendship will increase even more.

Once you have reached maximum friendship, the Pokémon will come to you and announce that it is your best friend. Now it will always be happy to see you and, in addition to that, it will give a special mark on the Pokémon's Pokédex entry indicating that it is a Best Friend.
