Niantic have announced two events in Pokémon GO.
First is the Solstice event which will run from June 19th 08:00 local time to June 24th at 22:00 local time and the Bug Out event will run from June 26th at 08:00 local time to July 1st at 22:00 local time. Full details for this event have yet to be announced
Niantic have also announced the next Research Breakthrough Reward. From June 1st 2020 at 20:00 UTC to July 1st 2020 at 20:00 UTC you'll get a Trapinch which will give bonus Trapinch candy upon capture

The Wild Area Event has now shifted in Pokémon Sword & Shield. With this, Gigantamax Eevee has left the boosted raids and with this, Gigantamax Meowth has been added as the focus of the event. With this, players can get multiple Gigantamax Meowth and can now even find Shiny Gigantamax Meowth and the first time you can get it with its Hidden Ability. This is presently the only way to get Gigantamax Meowth as it was event distribution only and the event ended in early January. This event runs until 12:59 UTC on June 2nd 2020

Niantic have announced a new feature coming to Pokémon GO: Reality Blending. This new feature will allow for some changes to AR mode on some phones to allow for some objects to block in AR mode on devices like Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S10, Google Pixel 3, and Google Pixel 4.
In addition to this, they are working to develop a new feature called PokéStop Scan, which will be available to Level 40 players in Early June. This feature allows for you to record a PokéStop or Gym's real life location in order to help build a 3D Map

Today marks the Pokémon GO Community Day. On this day, for six hours in each region, Seedot will appear, enmass, in Pokémon GO with a chance of Shiny Seedot appearing. During this event, when you evolve Nuzleaf into Shiftry, it will know the move Bullet Seed, which is exclusive to this event. This coincides with 3* Capture Experience and 3 hour Incense. This runs at these times:

This also coincides with the Investigating Illusions Ticketed Event which unlocks Special Research that ties in with Community Day.

Battles for the next online competition have begun. This competition, 2020 International Challenge May, is a Double Battle competition runs VGC Rules. This competition allows players to compete towards the Pokémon Players Cup where the Top 256 players from each region who are eligible will move on to the special competition.
Battles will run from May 22nd 00:00 UTC to May 24th 23:59 UTC. All players get a special Casual Tee (Ultra Ball Guy).

A new update is live for Pokémon HOME on mobile. With this update, there are multiple fixes including the addition of Battle Data and various bug fixes. To celebrate, for a limited time, with an end date to be announced later, you can now trade with friends far away in the app. The time that the Wonder Box requires to complete has been reduced to 1 hour and you can now join 10 Free Room Trades a day, with the times utilised shortened
Battle Data will show you your data for previous competitions and Ranked Battle options. You can also then check previous Ranked Battle Series or Online Competitions to see rankings including what Pokémon use and the moves, items and abilities it used, much like the Global Link did with Gen 6 and 7 Pokémon games

The Throwback Challenge 2020 Sinnoh event is starting to roll out for Pokémon GO players. From 13:00 local time today, May 22nd to 13:00 local time on May 29th, Sinnoh Pokémon will spawn in increased numbers, have increased raids and so forth. There's also a Pikachu in a Lucario hat spawning in the game and unique Throwback Timed Special Research which results in a Cresselia encounter. Further details have been released about the Player's Cup. They have announced the amount of players from each region who will enter the Finals:
TCG and VGC will have 4 from North America, 4 from Europe, 4 from Latin America, 3 from Oceania and 1 from an Invitational tournament while Pokkén will have 4 from North America, 2 from Europe, 1 from Oceana and 1 from the Invitational
Pokkén Tournament DX's cup will run on a 1 VS 1 format, different to the Team Battle Format it has run the last two years.
The events will be streamed in various broadcasts between June and August with the TCG Invitational is on May 30th to 31st and will be streamed on June 6th through 7th. VGC Invitationals will run on June 6th through 7th and be streamed June 20th through 21st. Pokkén Invitational will run on June 13th to 14th and be streamed on June 27th through 28th. The Invitationals all feature 8 of the current top players or past champions.
The qualifiers are as follows:
July 11th: VGC, TCG and Pokkén get down to 64 players in each region
July 18th: VGC, TCG and Pokkén get down to 16 players in each region
July 25th: VGC, TCG and Pokkén get down to the amount of players assigned for each region

A special Players Cup competition has been announced for Pokémon Sword & Shield, Pokkén and the TCG. This will have two stages. In July players can compete in a double elimination bracket when in August the top finishers will compete in the final stage to be crowned champion and earn a Travel Award to an International Championship in the future
Sword & Shield players compete through the newly announced International Challenge May Competition with the Top 256 from North America, 256 from Europe, 128 from Oceania and 256 from Latin America moving through to the July competition. Players need to make sure that their Trainer Club Account and Nintendo Account are connected.
TCG players compete through the ranking on the June Leaderboard on Teading Card Game online with the top players moving through to the July competition

The Wild Area Event has now shifted in Pokémon Sword & Shield. With this, Dragapult, Togekiss, Rotom etc. have left the boosted raids and with this, Gigantamax Pikachu has been added as the focus of the event. With this, players can get multiple Gigantamax Pikachu and can now even find Shiny Gigantamax Pikachu and the first time you can get it with its Hidden Ability. This event runs until 23:59 UTC on May 18th 2020

Niantic have announced the next Pokémon GO Community Day on May 24th will focus on Seedot. This event will 3* Capture Experience and has 3 Hour Incense. However, it will also give out Bullet Seed to Shiftry. We'll bring more details as they come. This Community Day comes with Special Research which you can purchase called "Seeing Double" which gives Incense, Golden Razz Berries and more.
There will also be a Community Day bundle featuring an Elite Fast TM, 30 Ultra Balls, 3 Incense and 3 Lucky Eggs
Niantic will also host a 24 hour stream from 01:00 UTC May 24th to 01:00 UTC May 25th which will display Seedot and other Pokémon in the wild
The Community Day runs at 11am to 5pm in each local time zone

The Throwback Challenge 2020 Johto event is starting to roll out for Pokémon GO players. From 13:00 local time today to 13:00 local time on May 15th, Johto Pokémon will spawn in increased numbers, have increased raids and so forth. There's also a Pikachu in an Umbreon hat spawning in the game and unique Throwback Timed Special Research which results in a Ho-Oh encounter. The next Legendary event will focus on Entei in a new feature, a Legendary Arena which works like the Battle Villa and lets you use multiple Sync Pairs

There is to be a set number of playable battles a day. This limit doesn't apply to the Battle Villa and co-op. To balance this out, more items will be given in each stage

The second episode features Ash & Goh going to Galar to witness a match between Leon and the Hammerlocke Gym Leader, Raihan. The third episode features Ash & Goh encounter an upset Sobble. Niantic have announced a change in how Poké Coins are going to work. Starting soon in Australia as part of a trial with worldwide rollout after the trial, you'll be able to get 55 Poké Coins a day. However, rather than earning 6 coins per hour spent defending a gym, you'll now only get 2 coins per hour; 1 every 30 minutes. To counter this, there will now be various features you can do each day to gain 5 Poké Coins for completing all of the tasks
* Make an Excellent Throw
* Evolve a Pokémon
* Make a Great Throw
* Use a Berry to help catch a Pokémon
* Take a snapshot of your buddy
* Catch a Pokémon
* Power up a Pokémon

During this, there will be 50 Timed Research tasks to complete that will appear in the Today's View section of the game, without the need to spin a Poké Stop, which can result in encounters with Snubbull but this research will disappear at 10pm on the 9th

To get them, you need to check your ranking in the Ranked Battle mode and then go to Mystery Gift > Receive via Battle Stadium.
