The special Queen Cup Carnival Events have begun again in Pokémon Duel. This event has you play against players online to earn points and as you earn more points you get access to more rewards, in this case a Mega Salamence figure. This cup runs until January 4th 2018

Pokkén Tournament DX
The next special Group Match has been announced on Pokkén Tournament DX. From January 1st through January 8th you can participate in the Volt Shock Fist. This cup is a Basic Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Pikachu, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement.

Some new options have been made available in Friendly Competitions on the Pokémon Global Link. Until now, when creating a competition you could select the battle time to be 10 minutes or 30 minutes. However, as of today, you can now set up Friendly Competitions that have 5 minutes or 15 minutes as the time limit.

The first Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon Global Mission has finished in success. This Global Mission's theme was to earn BP while Mantine Surfing and was a success at 8,543,244 BP earned. As it was a success, the gift of 2,000 FC, or 4,000 FC if the game is connected to the Global Link, is now available.

A few brand new challenges have begun on Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Shuffle Mobile.
First is a new stage featuring Granbull (Winking). It runs until January 9th 2018
Next is a stage for the Pokémon Arcanine, which otherwise appears in Expert stages. It runs until January 2nd 2018
Next is a Kyurem competitive stage. This is a competitive stage that runs until January 2nd 2018
Finally, the Buzzwole, Meloetta Pirouette Forme, Hitmonlee, Silvally and Keldeo Resolute Form stages have begun repeat runs

The long anticipated Holiday event for Pokémon GO has finally been announced. This event brings multiple different aspects and runs from 21:00 UTC today until January 4th 2018
The first and most notable is the re-appearance of Santa Hat Pikachu and Raichu, with the addition of Pichu through Egg hatching. Ice-type Pokémon will also have increased spawns
Next is a special sale box of various items, including Super Incubators and more, plusthe new Star Piece item which boosts Stardust earned by 50% for 30 minutes. From today until December 25th the boxes contain Lure Modules while from December 25th to January 4th they include Premium Raid Passes. Each day you will get an Incubator on your first spin at a Poké Stop between December 22nd and December 25th
Finally, 20 new Hoenn Pokémon have been made available. They are Lotad, Lombre, Ludicolo, Carvanha, Sharpedo, Wailmer, Wailord Barboach, Whiscash, Corphish, Crawdaunt, Feebas, Milotic, Snorunt, Glalie, Spheal, Sealeao, Walrein, Relicanth and Luvdisc. Click here for full details on these Pokémon

AR+ is now announced in Pokémon GO. This feature on iPhone X and iOS11 on iPhone 6S and above will allow for augmented reality to take a bigger aspect in the battle. Pokémon are now more in tune with the real world with proper scale, and have awareness to your presence. Each Pokémon has an awareness metre and if filled, it will flee. If it does, tap nearby grass and it may reappear. If you're able to capture Pokémon in great proximity, you will get a special Expert Handler bonus and increased experience and Stardust

Some new distributions are to be available in Japan. In celebration of Team Rainbow Rocket, from January 20th to March 11th, you'll be able to get certain Pokémon based on the signature Pokémon of each of the Team Leaders. These will rotate each week and vary depending on each Pokémon Center. You can obtain Giovanni's Nidoking, Maxie's Crobat, Archie's Mightyena, Cyrus' Honchkrow, Ghetsis' Cofagrigus or Lysandre's Mienshao. This follows on from a similar distribution last year where others of their team were distributed

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Battle Competition
Battles for the next Battle Competition has begun. This is the Johto X Alola competition. This is a Double Battle competition using rules where you can only use Pokémon from the Johto and Alola Regional Pokédexes barring the standard Legendary and Mythical bans. Transferred Pokémon are allowed.. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 50 for the duration of the competition. Battles will run from December 15th through December 17th. All entrants will get the 50 Battle Points. Download Rules for this competition are now available from Festival Plaza.

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Version 1.1 Patch
The first patch for Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon has gone live. This patch takes the game to Version 1.1 and is required to use all online functions and requires 539 Blocks. The patch fixes a number of bugs that have existed in the game, mostly dealing with moves
It fixes a bug where Ion Deluge no longer functions
It fixes a bug where Wide Guard reduced damage from all Z-Moves instead of just Clangorous Scales
It fixes a bug where the first move is deleted if you teach a Pokémon with 3 or fewer moves a move at the Move Tutor
It fixes a bug where the game would periodically freeze shortly after selecting Litten as your Starter Pokémon
All Battle Videos from before this patch will unfortunately be unable to function

Pokémon Crystal - Virtual Console
Pokémon Crystal has been confirmed for release on the Virtual Console on January 26th 2018. This will have connectivity with the Generation 7 games and also encounter Celebi within the game. In the Japanese version, when you beat the Elite Four and go to the Pokémon Communication Center in Goldenrod City, you'll be gifted with the GS Ball. It's currently unclear what the method will be in America and Europe
A physical version will come in Europe on January 26th 2018 which contains the download code in a box, while in Japan a Physical edition is coming with a magnet based on its cartridge, stickers and a poster of all the Pokémon

We have further confirmation on the details of the upcoming Shiny Kyogre and Groudon events in Japan. These Pokémon will be distributed via Serial Code in Aeon, Tsutaya, Amazon, WonderGoo, Yodobashi and other stores including Pokémon Centers from January 13th through to March 5th, with the codes being redeemable until March 28th. Pokémon Ultra Sun players will receive Shiny Kyogre while Pokémon Ultra Moon players will receive Shiny Groudon

The first images from CoroCoro have leaked and have revealed the latest news on Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. As always, do note that translations are preliminary while we work on them.
First it has announced that at some point soon, a Shiny Groudon and a Shiny Kyogre gift will be distributed to Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon players in Japan. At present it doesn't list the method of distribution but states to check the official site for details. We'll provide more on this soon.
Next, it has also announced that, within next month's issue of CoroCoro, due out on January 15th, there will be a special serial code that will allow players to receive an Arceus

The goal is to reach 1,000,000 BP by December 25th at 23:59 UTC. If the mission is a success, then participating players get 2,000 FC or 4,000 FC if they have a Global Link account tied to their game while if it's a failure players will get 1,000 FC or 2,000 FC if they have a Global Link account tied to their game.

It has been announced that the movie based on the game Dective Pikachu starring Justice Smith as Tim Goodman, Kathryn Newton and Ryan Reynolds voicing Detective Pikachu, is to get released in North America tentatively on May 10th 2019. Currently no further details are known the movie, but production will begin next month

The latest movie, Pokémon! I Choose You is now available to purchase or rent on iTunes and Google Play in North America and parts of Europe including the United Kingdom, as well as on the Amazon play store in the United States. This movie can be purchased in SD or HD with differing prices between regions. At present, physical release is set for early next year in Europe/US and Japan later this month

Detective Pikachu
The European video game rating board, PEGI, has put out a rating for the Nintendo 3DS title, Detective Pikachu. This game was released in Japan last year and features you playing as Tim Goodman, teaming with his father's Pikachu, in order to solve various mysteries in the nearby city, as well as uncover the mystery of the disappearance of Tim's father. Pokémon the Movie 2018 - World Premiere
As an annual tradition each December, it has been announced that the world premiere of the upcoming movie due for release in Japan in July 2018 has aired on the Japanese variety show Oha Suta. This movie is tentatively called Pokémon The Movie 2018, with the title expected to change soon. THe movie is a collaboration between the usual OLM as well as WIT Studio.
This trailer showcases a lot of water,and pans over to Ash on a cliff showing that it continues on from the I Choose You Saga and as Ash has the hat from the previous movie. Then, the hat blows away to a female character. The art syle is different to the previous movies and the trailer featured Lugia's theme from The Power of One.
It will release on July 13th 2018. We hope to have an official upload of the trailer soon so keep checking back

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Upcoming Patch
Game Freak have announced that a patch is to be released later this month to fix several issues in Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon. This patch will rectify the issues where the game sometimes freezes after you pick Litten, Wide Guard protects against all Z-Moves, the move Ion Deluge doesn't work at all and an issue where Pokémon who know less than 4 moves will forget the first move when being taught a move at the Move Tutors.

The Hoenn Pokémon are now live in Pokémon GO. Currently around 50 Pokémon are now available in the games. We're currently collating all information on the new Pokémon in the game but be sure to check our section as we update further information. With this update, you can also set Battle Parties to allow for you to prepare for Raid Battles and have specific teams set for certain circumstances

Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon - Battle Competition
Registration for the next Battle Competition has begun. This is the Johto X Alola competition. This is a Double Battle competition using rules where you can only use Pokémon from the Johto and Alola Regional Pokédexes barring the standard Legendary and Mythical bans. Transferred Pokémon are allowed.. All Pokémon will be raised to Level 50 for the duration of the competition. Registration runs from December 7th to December 14th. Battles will run from December 15th through December 17th. All entrants will get the 50 Battle Points. Download Rules for this competition are now available from Festival Plaza.

Pokémon GO - Hoenn Pokémon
It has now been confirmed that Hoenn Pokémon are to come to Pokémon GO later this week. With this, dynamic weather patterns are to come to the game. At first, only 50 of the 135 Hoenn Pokémon will be available at launch. Weather patterns will cause Pokémon to appear differently for example, Mudkip will appear more often when it is raining. In addition to this, moves will also have increased or decreased effects during the weather just like the main games. It can also result in increase CP as well as more stardust gained Clear: Grass, Ground & Fire-types get stronger and appear more frequently Rain: Water, Electric and Bug-types get stronger and appear more frequently Snow: Ice & Steel-types get stronger and appear more frequently Windy: Dragon, Flying & Psychic-types get stronger and appear more frequently Foggy: Dark & Ghost-types get stronger and appear more frequently

A few brand new challenges have begun on Pokémon Shuffle and Pokémon Shuffle Mobile.
First is a new stage featuring Toxapex. This stage runs until December 19th 2017
In addition to this, a new stage has begun for Fennekin (Winking) which runs until December 12th 2017
Next is a new Pokémon Safari. This Safari includes Morelull, Cutiefly, Shiinotic, Flabébé (Winking) & Floette (Winking). It runs until December 19th 2017
Next is a Shiny Mega Gardevoir competitive stage. This is a competitive stage that runs until December 12th 2017.
Finally, the Salazzle and Incineroar stages have begun repeat runs.

Walrein's two massively developed tusks can totally shatter blocks of ice weighing 10 tons with one blow. This Pokémon's thick coat of blubber insulates it from subzero temperatures. Walrein swims all over in frigid seawater while crushing icebergs with its grand, imposing tusks. Its thick layer of blubber makes enemy attacks bounce off harmlessly.
