In-Game Trades
Like previous games, there are a variety of points within the game where you can trade your Pokémon with various in-game trainers. Some of these Pokémon hold rare items or know rare attacks so it's always best to get these in-game trades where possible.
Violet City - Bellsprout & Onix The first in-game trade is a relatively simple one. In a house in Violet City, you will find this guy who would like to trade their Onix for one of your Bellsprout

Goldenrod City - Drowzee & Machop Up on the fifth floor of the Goldenrod City Department Store, you will find this gentleman whom is looking for a Drowzee. In exchange for it, he will give you a Machop

Olivine City - Krabby & Voltorb In one of the houses of Olivine City, you will discover a fisherman whom is searching for a Krabby. He will offer you a Voltorb he recently caught

Blackthorn City - Dragonair & Dodrio In the eastmost house of Blackthorn City, you will find this woman who is searching for a female Dragonair. She will offer you a Dodrio in return

Pewter City - Haunter & Xatu In the Pokémon Centre of Pewter City, you will discover this man who is searching for a Haunter. In return, he will offer you a Xatu

Power Plant - Dugtrio & Magneton In the Power Plant in Route 10, you will discover this scientist who is looking for a Dugtrio. He will give you a Magneton in return

Saffron City - Pikachu & Pikachu After you have defeated Lt. Surge for a second time, you will discover he is in the Saffron City Magnet Train station. He is looking for a Pikachu from Viridian Forest and will offer you his French (or English in the Japanese version) Pikachu in return

Silph Co. - Forretress & Beldum After you have received the Hoenn Starter from Steven and spoken to him in the Pewter Museum, Steven will be in the lobby of Silph Co. and would like to give you a Beldum. In exchange, he would like a Forretress. The Beldum also has a Dawn Stone attached

Diglett's Cave - Bonsly & Rhyhorn After you have defeated Brock, on Saturdays between 17:00 and 20:00, you will find Brock in the entrance of Diglett's Cave. When you talk to him, he will talk about Sudowoodo. After a while, he will talk about it's pre evolution Bonsly. He will ask you for one and in exchange he will give you his Rhyhorn, which knows Thunder Fang

Olivine City - Steelix After you have defeated Jasmine in the rematch, she will be in her gym most of the time, except between 13:00 and 14:00. Here, you can go to her and she will suggest a trade. She is offering a Steelix to you. However, in exchange, she will accept any Pokémon.
