Weather was introduced in Pokémon GO in Version 1.55 to tie in with the release of the Hoenn Pokémon. Weather is an effect that is always in play and ties in with the real-life weather happening in your region, but does not change in real-time, rather updating every hour or so.

The weather will have an effect on the Pokémon you encounter and use:

• Pokémon of the types affected by the weather in the wild will have better IVs and level as standard
• Pokémon of th e types affected by the weather in Raid Bosses are much higher levelled
• Pokémon move types such as Fire are increased in damage by 20% during related weather.
• Increased Stardust when capturing Pokémon of the type boosted by weather
