The Purification costs for Shadow Pokémon have reduced in Pokémon GO. Previously, these were at 2,000 Stardust and 2 Candy for most Pokémon except Dratini and Snorlax which had a 10,000 Stardust cost. However, this has now been altered:

The Pokémon Company have announced that the mobile game, Pokémon Duel, will cease on October 31st 2019 at 01:59 UTC. When that happens, the game will no longer be playable apart from a few features. Due to this, you won't be able to purchase any new Diamonds from today but will be able to request a refund should you still have Diamonds on that date. You'll also no longer be able to purchase the Player Pass. With this, you can now exchange Gems for figures in the Material Exchange and previous figures have been added to the Material Exchange. The material amount received from boosts is greatly increased. Time Boosters take half the time and Gem costs are havled

At present, many dark PokéStops exist where you can encounter Team GO Rocket and then capture Shadow Pokémon. DeNA have opened pre-registration for Pokémon Masters. The game has an expected release date of August 29th 2019. With this, some new trailers have been released and have been added to our Pre-Release Videos Section. With this, more mechanics have been unveiled
Characters are mostly obtained in-story and through events, but also you can spend money on Scouting Missions. If you get a duplicate character, it levels up their Sync Move.
Each Sync Pair has got 6 stats, the same as you'd expect from the main games. Sync Pairs have certain roles that showcase what they focus on such as Support, Tech and offense
You can Level up your Sync Pairs through standard play but can use items to unlock level caps to reach higher levels. You can also do special Training missions to get increased experience and rewards
You can use TMs to teach new moves to your Pokémon.
When you reach a specific level, you can then evolve the Pokémon in your Sync Pair as part of a Sync Pair story
There are passive skills which act like Abilities in the main game such as powering up moves in a pinch, preventing KO from max HP, preventing Confusion and so forth
Each Sync Pair has a ☆ potential, but using items you can increase the potential even higher which boosts their general stats

Niantic have released a new feature coming to Pokémon GO. As has been datamined from previous APKs and following hints in GO Fest Chicago and Dortmund of Team Rocket photobombing all Snapshots in the evening, Niantic have confirmed that Team Rocket are coming to Pokémon GO in the form of Team GO Rocket. Sometimes, a PokéStop will be dark grey at the top with it spinning slightly but, when it is spun, it will create an encounter with Team GO Rocket. This means that you have to battle the grunt. When you battle them, you will then be able to capture the Shadow Pokémon they used, which has the move Frustration. From there, you can purify the Pokémon. This costs Stardust and Candy to do, which removes Frustration and gives them the move Return.

The next Pokémon GO event has started to begin. From today at 1pm local time until July 29th at 1pm local time, Straw Hat Pikachu will start spawning in Pokémon GO. THis is to tie-in with the anniversary of ONE PIECE and Pokémon GO as well as promote tourism to Kumamoto, Japan which is still rebuilding after an earthquake in 2016. This Straw Hat Pikachu can be shiny but cannot evolve.

Today marks the Pokémon GO Community Day. On this day, for three hours in each region, Mudkip will appear, enmass, in Pokémon GO with a chance of Shiny Mudkip appearing. During this event, when you evolve Marshtomp into Swampert, it will know the move Hydro Cannon, which is exclusive to this event. This can be done for a further hour after the event. This coincides with 3* Capture Experience and 3 hour Lure Modules. This runs at these times:

It eats nearly 900 pounds of food every day. It starts nodding off while eating—and continues to eat even while it’s asleep. It doesn’t do anything other than eat and sleep. When prompted to make a serious effort, though, it apparently displays awesome power. It has no interest in anything other than eating. Niantic have pushed live the new style of Trainer Battle Charge moves. Now, rather than tap, you now have to do a minigame based on the type of move and move itself to complete. With this, you have to touch various icons matching the type on the touch screen of the mobile phone. The more of the icons you hit, the more power the Charge Move

Niantic have reconfirmed the international release of the upcoming Straw Hat Pikachu. As announcd on Tuesday, this event is a tie-in with the anime One Piece and has Straw Hat pikachu spawn worldwide. Unlike most events, however, this event will run from 1pm local time on July 22nd through July 29th 1pm local time.

Pokémon GO has now opened PokéStop Submissions for Level 40 players within the country of Finland. This follows on from being released in various countries including the majority of South America, as well as Taiwan over the past few months. Further countries in the rollout have yet to be announced

The Pokémon Company have officially announced the next Pokémon Trading Card Game set in Japan and have started revealing cards for it. This set is called Dream League and will release in Japan on August 2nd2019. The Pokémon Company have released another trailer for Pokémon Masters. This trailer reveals three player co-op battles with friends, allowing to interact with Unity Attacks, bringing all three Pokémon attacks together when all three players have to take actions to charge the unity gauge
There are new characters revealed, the Professor of Pasio is Professor Bellis who researches the relationship between Pokémon and Sync Stones, items required for Sync Moves
Lear is the prince from an unknown country who built Pasio and organised the Pokémon Masters League. He is joined by his staff members Sawyer & Rachel
The rival of the game is called Paulo and has a Rockruff
When Trainers wear a Sygna Suit, their partner Pokémon changes to match. For example, when Brock dons his Sygna Suit, he teams up with Tyranitar instead of Onix.

A new Team Match event has opened pre-registration in Pokémon Duel. This Duel Match has you choose a team of either Tornadus, Thundurus or Landorus. During the Team Match, you just play as normal online and your wins count towards your team. Pokémon Rumble Rush
The new event has started in Pokémon Rumble Rush alongside a new update. This event coincides with the Version 1.2.0 update which comes with a variety of changes. First, the Type Move Plus Power Gears have had their max level reduced while their power increases and the cost per level up also increases. You now also can have up to 6 Ore in the refinery at any one time.
This event is focused on an island based around Zapdos and contains various new Pokémon, new Gears and more. It runs for three weeks. As such, we're currently compiling everything about this new event and so this update and our Rumble Rush section will be updated with details over the coming days

The next Pokémon GO event has been announced by The Pokémon Company. From July 22nd at 04:00 UTC through July 29th at 04:00 UTC, in conjunction with One Piece, a special Straw Hat Pikachu will appear in the game worldwide and a straw hat outfit will arrive for trainers. In Japan, a ONE PIECE statue will be placed in Kumamoto, Japan with special PokéStop featuring art from Eiichiro Oda of ONE PIECE. This is being held to help support the Kumamoto city in Japan rebuild after an earthquake in 2019 and to celebrate both Pokémon GO's third anniversary and ONE PIECE's 22nd

We are starting to get more details for the other pre-order bonus gift of customisation in Pokémon Sword & Shield. Previously announced for Amazon in Japan, we now have confirmation that in MediaMarkt & Carrefour in Spain, if you pre-order the games and are among the first 300 to pre-order, you'll receive a code to gain access to the special Gold Studded backpacks in the game. We're currently trying to get as many details on this distribution globally so be sure to keep checking back

The next Pokémon GO version is starting to roll out on Android devices with iOS expected in the coming days. This brings the game up to internal version 0.149.0 and contains a few changes including a change in the Appraisal system. This system works similar to the IV Judge element in Pokémon Sun & Moon. You can see the three stats the Pokémon has with a three bars for each stat. The more the three bars are filled, the higher the IVs. With this, there are also buttons to the left and right to let you skip between Pokémon. It also showcases if a Pokémon is large and where it was caught. If a Pokémon has perfect IVs, it gets a red stamp
In addition to that, it confirms battles with Team GO Rocket grunts and being able to capture Shadow Pokémon left behind by the Team GO Rocket grunts. It also mentions some Battle Minigames using Charged Attack gameplay. We'll provide more details on this as they come
The update also provides a UI change to Trainer Battles grouping things together for each Pokémon, showcasing the amount of Pokémon and Shields left and the current Pokémon's CP and the new attack button has been moved back down to beneath the list of Pokémon's attacks. You can also now search for male, female and genderless Pokémon in the Pokémon list

Level 1 Type Move Plus Power Gears change from 30 to 50
The boost with each level on Type Move Plus Power Gears increases from 10 to 50
The level cap for Type Move Plus Power Gears is lowered from 100 to 50
The amount of P Coins needed to upgrade Type Move Plus Power Gears is altered. For example LEvel 4 to 5 increases by 200 from 6,300 to 6,500. Level 9 to 10 increases 3,500 from 6,500 to 10,000 and Level 19 to 20 increases 30,300 from 19,700 to 50,000

Following the announcement of Chansey as the Fukushima Ambassador back in February, to coincide with The Pokémon Company's tie-in with the Fukushima prefecture in Japan called "Fukushima & The Chansey Peach Festival", there will be a small event from July 22nd to August 4th where if you take a GO Snapshot while in Fukushima, you will get Photobombed by a Chansey and can capture it. You can do this once per day

The next special Group Match has begun on Pokkén Tournament DX. From June 21st through 23rd, you can participate in the "Gatling Flame Kicks" Group Match. This cup is a Basic Battle competition, once again on a Fixed Battle Arena. Participating in this brings a special title reward based on Blaziken, and if you place highly you'll get other titles based on your placement. If you already received the title from the last time it ran, you will not receive it again

Nintendo have announced a new model of Nintendo Switch. This model is a portable focused Switch called the Nintendo Switch Lite and is due for release on September 20th 2019 in the Americas, Europe and Japan. It costs 19,980 ¥ in Japan, $199.99 in America with the price for Europe not confirmed yet. It has a smaller 5.5" screen, slightly better battery life and weighs less, but cannot connect to a TV and the controls don't detach. You can, however, connect JoyCons wirelessly to it to play games that require JoyCon input.

The Raid Battles have changed at Armored Mewtwo is now available in Pokémon GO. Armored Mewtwo is to be the Level 5 Raid Boss in Raid Battles until 20:00 UTC on July 31st 2019 in conjunction with promotion for the movie, Mewtwo Strikes Back EVOLUTION which releases in Japan on Friday. Armored Mewtwo has different stats and moves to standard Mewtwo, being more defensive. We have full details of Armored Mewtwo in our Pokémon GO Pokédex. With this, some new clothing is being added to the Style Shop at some point soon based upon Mewtwo

Back in April, CoroCoro ran a competition for the most powerful Steel-type move's name and today they have announced the winner. The move, known by Duraludon is known in Japan as roughly "Exhaustive Beam" or Do-or-Die Resistance" (てっていこうせん). This name is a pun based on two different Japanese phrases with the word behind it including the words Iron & Beam as well as the phrase Do-or-Die Resistance making an exact translation tricky. This move is Steel-type, Special with 140 base power and will do recoil of 50% of the user's HP.

Yesterday, it was announced that 7 Net Shopping in Japan would have an exclusive Tracksuit outfit option in Pokémon Sword & Shield when you pre-order. Previously it was unclear if this would make it to the west but the UK retailer, ShopTo, have confirmed that in addition to Steelbooks and a figure for the dual pack, you'll also get the Tracksuit outfits for all pre-orders.
We're currently investigating to see what retailers will offer this pre-order bonus around the globe so be sure to keep checking back

Registration for the 2019 Pokémon World Championships is now live. This takes place in Washington D.C. next month on August 16th through 18th. For spectators, it is $10 where participants get 2 Booster Packs and Pokkén LCQ players have to pay $30 and get 6 booster packs. Registration for players who have earned a place is also live as is registration for the DC Open event that earns points towards the 2020 season

As a special bonus for purchasing the Dual Pack SteelBook® Edition, Trainers will receive two codes (one per game) that will reward them with special items known as Dynamax Crystals. By using the Dynamax Crystals in the Wild Area, Trainers will be able to face Dynamax Larvitar and Dynamax Jangmo-o, Pokémon that are normally encountered later in the game, in special Max Raid Battles. Larvitar won’t appear in Pokémon Sword and Jangmo-o won’t appear in Pokémon Shield during normal gameplay, but players will be able to catch them in either version by using these Dynamax Crystals.
The game has Version exclusive Gym Leaders. In Sword you face the Fighting-type Bea while in Shield you face the Ghost-type Allister. Deino and Jangmo-o are exclusive to Sword and Larvitar & Goomy are exclusive to Shield

This week has been the second Pokémon GO Global Challenge of the year to coincide with the Pokémon GO Fest in Dortmund and with it, all players were to complete research to reach the goals. Niantic have confirmed that the goals have been met which means that starting Tuesday, for a week, there will be triple capture experience, triple hatch experience, double raid experience and 1 hour durations on Lucky Eggs. It also means that there will be a special Entei Raid Day on July 14th.

A Japanese TV Guide has revealed the next episodes of the Pokémon Sun & Moon anime. These episodes are due to air on July 14th, 21st, 28th and August 5th. The first episode features the first knockout round of the Alola League including matches featuring Ash, Faba, Ilima, Guzma and a focus on Mallow VS Lana. The Pokémon GO Fest Dortmund 2019 Tie-In event has begun worldwide. This event features the increase in spawns of Nidoran Male and some other GO Fest focused Pokémon, with Shiny Nidoran Male now being available worldwide as well as unique Field Research for the event. In addition to this, the Slakoth make up event for Europe, Middle-East and Africa has also begun.
With this, the GO Global Challenge has begun. From now until 16:00 UTC on July 7th, players have to get:
Pokémon GO Fest Dortmund event attendees—Complete 1 million research tasks to unlock 3× Catch XP
Team Instinct—Complete 15 million research tasks globally to unlock 1-hour Lucky Eggs
Team Valor—Complete 15 million research tasks globally to unlock 3× Hatch XP
Team Mystic—Complete 15 million research tasks globally to unlock 2× Raid XP
If all players complete these, then the bonuses will run from 20:00 UTC July 9th to 20:00 UTC July 16th and there will be a special Entei Raid Day with Shiny Entei available during the event on a Raid Day on July 14th
