New Pokémon Forms

Like all Pokémon games, Pokémon Scarlet & Violet introduces many new Pokémon and with these Pokémon come various forms of the Pokémon. Some can be changed throughout battle while others will remain the same based on how they were when they were caught.

New Pokémon

Paldean Tauros

While technically Tauros is a Paldean Form, its Paldean form has got two different alternate forms. These forms are version exclusive and change Paldean Tauros' type, as well as the type of its signature move, Raging Bull.

Existing Forms

As the Pokémon games have progressed, many Pokémon have gained forms and in doing so, they need you to get a special item or go to a special location in order to be able to change the form which has changed from previous games. These list features that have changed from the usual form change. Any other form changes through items are done through items obtained from the Auctions in Porto Marinada

Rotom

Rotom's forms make a return once again, and once again you can do it through the Rotom Catalog. To get the Rotom Catalog, you need to have a Rotom in your party or boxes. Then go to Porto Marianda and a special auction will be held to purchase the Rotom Catalog

Deerling & Sawsbuck

After many generations of not being available in the wild, Deerling and Sawsbuck return to Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. These Pokémon have their forms based on the location you catch them in, but like with their original appearances, they do change their form

If Deerling or Sawsbuck are in your party when you boot your game up, their form will change to match the location you currently are in.

If they remain in your box, they will not change form. They will also not change form when removed from the Box into your party. It only changes when you boot the game up

Vivillon

Vivillon's form is set as default to the Fancy Pattern in this game, but as of Version 1.2, there is now a way to change this. If you send a postcard from Pokémon GO from the respective region to Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, then for 24 hours all Scatterbug, Spewpa and Vivillon caught in the game during the time period will turn to that form. After that, it returns to Fancy Pattern Vivillon
