Barry is a Pokémon Trainer from Twinleaf Town. Despite being from Twinleaf, Barry has not met Dawn before. Barry is a Pokémon Trainer and is following the gym challenge within Sinnoh. His training style seems to mirror Paul, of whom Barry is a fan. Due to this, Ash has a problem with Barry's training styles. Unlike Paul however, despite the training methods, Barry is a very sociable person and is eager to make friends and does still care about his Pokémon

Empoleon is the main powerhouse of Barry's team. Barry has used Empoleon in a variety of matches including his gym match against Gardenia's Cacnea and against Ash's Pikachu. It has many powerful attacks including Aqua Jet and Steel Wing, but despite this, it eventually fell to Ash's Pikachu

Staraptor is another of Barry's Powerful Pokémon. It has only been seen in battle against Ash where it went up against Ash's Chimchar. Despite its strong attacks, Staraptor fell to Chimchar's agile strengths

Roserade is the final of Barry's Pokémon that were seen in his debut. Roserade is a very strong Pokémon and with its powerful attacks like Poison Jab, it managed to overcome type disadvantage and defeated Ash's Chimchar. However, it was eventually taken down by Ash's Gliscor

Heracross is the fourth of Barry's Pokémon that was shown in the animé. Shown on Iron Island, Barry used Heracross to help defend against his Empoleon when Empoleon fell to the mysterious control of Team Galactic over all Steel Pokémon. Heracross is a very powerful Pokémon with good physical strength and is a powerhouse of Barry's team.
